online esn changes

Wireless Buddy

I know you can do an ESN Change if you have 1 number and 2 phones with one having no service. But is it possible to have 2 numbers and trade phones? For example, 555-1234 has an LG 8300 and 555-5678 has a RAZR V3m. Can you do an ESN change online so that 555-1234 has the RAZR and 555-5678 has the 8300?

Yes you can just make sure both phones are off, if it does not work the first time try doing one of the other phones first, wait about ten min. and dial *22899 and that should work.

Are you serious?

I hope you don't work for VZW because you are dead wrong.

NO! You cannot swap ESN's between two phones online. It will cause conflicting ESNs on the backend and the transaction will not process.

Swapping ESNs that way will require that you call customer service to have it processed manually. Because it is something that cannot be completed online, they should not have a problem waiving the $20 ESN change fee.

Also, when you do swap phones. Dial *228 and choose option 1 to program. *22899 does not initally program the phone and is only used in programming aircards. Sorry for the misinformation.

Yeah...GUESS WHAT?!?! My buddy was tryin to switch from a Samsung 670 to a Motorola RAZR and we couldn't do it on-line. Gave us error messages. Later found out you CANT switch non EVDO to EVDO or vise versa. Well we called and the bitch rep MADE HIM PAY $20 FOR ESN CHNG EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE!!! WTF?!?! She then said it was policy. Blah blah blah. I am so heated. How about the b*tch rep changes it...but no VZW needs more money.

why would you pay $20? when that happens...you need to keep calling until you find someone who will do it for free...and you will find someone guaranteed

the fact that you can't change the ESN on-line is definite grounds to waive that $20. sucks you got a uneducated rep...i hope that call was monitored.

also, welcome to customer care in december. The centers have a bunch of new hires for the holiday season. Only problem is you won't always get someone who knows what they are talking about. I ran into this Saturday on an activation. Got someone who had no clue what a keyboard was. much less how to fix the problem. I called back and got someone who had the phones up and running in 15 minutes...

ASK FOR THE MANAGER! And complain that the Rep wasn't trained properly. No, it's not the Rep's fault but it certainly is the Manager's fault and you need to let them hear it!

Well you should not have this time then!

"Yes it will get the phone working but it is NOT the complete or proper prl/index for a voice device! 99 "should" only be used on data based product (data card, BB w/o voice plan, etc)! Unfortunately word of the 99 being a non-menu (cust not having to pick the 1/2 option) download hit the CS floor a long time ago and it instantly became a misused process simply b/c more than half the time a cust is told "please dial *228 and press option 1/2 when the recording comes on" goes in one ear and out the other to customer b/c the are looking at the display Vs listening to t ...

Like I said before I am not a Verizon employee, I don't know everything, but instead of being a J. O. like some people on this site because they don't like what other people post, I will just say I was told this by an individual in Tech Support and I have used it and it does work, so being that I spoke to someone who does work for Verizon I will go with what they say.
