Future phones
I see phones that automatically start doing your laundry when you come home, then it cooks you dinner and massages your feet. It looks like a Jetson home.
Side note: In the future people will realize that VZW doesn't make the phones, The manaufacturer's are the one with quality issues. VZW realizes/knows that there is a quality issue and maybe they're working on it w/ the mft's.

But here's my question: Why doesn't all that phone release delaying 'extensive testing' catch all these defects?

You can't test every phone made, just one that represents a whole production line

I just find it strange that a company that supposedly tests so much better than everyone else has some of the worst phone issues.

It's a conspiracy theory. Moto gives us one good phone, we test it out, then the whole production line is as reliable as a Pinto. Then Moto goes and sells some of the most relaible phones to ATT, Cingular, and especially Nextel.

yes, there is a GSM factory in Singapore (not the best quality but not the worst), iDen factory in Japan(best quality), and CDMA factory in Korea(worst). It's weird how quality is relative to the country where production is based even w/ cars.

Gee that's funny... Samsung is Korean, and they are widely regarded as some of the best phones made. They have the highest customer loyalty going.
LG is Korean as well, and gives Samsung a run for their money. Both make great GSM phones.

I get the joke, and Kia is a car for people with NO money or complete fools, but Hyundai has been doing better with reliablity lately, and their World Rally Championship teams have been doing pretty well as of late. Subaru & Citroen usually beat the stuffing out of them, and one of their cars crapped out in the Deutschland Rally over the weekend, but they're OK.
Chevrolet has recently begun manufacturing the Aveo in China, then shipping the finished chassis' over here for installation of engines & the like. Volkswagen Beetles are mostly made in Mexico, as is the Ford Fiesta/Focus.
