The new LG enV VX9900 is the best phone available for text-messaging addicts, but it could be so much more if it weren't for Verizon's shortsighted, avaricious, and consumer-unfriendly software choices. That leaves me oddly ambivalent about a phone that in many ways I like a lot.
The enV follows up on Verizon's LG VX9800, which introduced its unusual design. It looks like a standard candy-bar phone, but flip it open and it reveals a spacious QWERTY keyboard, big screen and ste

It tickled my funny bone when he said if you don't want to use the phone to its fullest then it wouldn't be that expensive...and with the prices you can't beat the Sidekick in a comparison, no matter how bad the phone may be.
Actually I sorta got pist at that because between all of my accounts I pay VZW over $300 a month. The saving grace really for me is that I have a rule setup that forwards all "High Priority" emails to my Gmail account. Fortunately GMail offers a pretty sweet WAP 2.0 interface for Gmail accounts.
I honestly wish now that Cingular had its act together here in Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe areas. I had the Samsung DT809 (its like the U740) and I constantly ran into ...

and the sound from the stereo speakers is rich, though not tremendously loud. With no dedicated music key, though, you have to burrow down too many levels to get to the music player.
you can download an alternative POP3/IMAP program, Vemail, for only $5 per month. But it won't show up on the enV's "email" tab, nor will it activate when you press the "email" button*you have to go hunting through menus for it.

Continuous talk time: 4 hours 44 minutes
One problem with the review, I set mine up for one touch shortcut key on both pop3 email account and mp3 player, I open the phone and hit one button for each item, so no it is not hard to get to

Just seems so high when it doesn't need to be. I have a blackberry with T-Mobile, and I have 1000 minutes free nights and weekends, unlimited data add on, and unlimited Text for less than what I can get Verizon for 450 minutes with unlimited data, and 1000 or 500 text messages.
And in a non-scientific way, because I myself wouldn't begin to try and measure it, EDGE has been just as good to me as EVDO, so unless Verizon does something DRASTIC then I am going to stick with T-Mobile. But I would change in a heartbeat, because I had Verizon for 2 years.
depending on who you call, like if you had friends/family with verizon wireless, you could potentially get alot more then 550 minutes out of the unlimited in calling.
and yes verizon wireless's internet is more expensive then Tmobiles, why wouldnt it be? its better, faster, and in more areas then Tmobiles EDGE. When tmobile starts expanding their data coverage and adding 3g in alot of markets their data price will go up also.
I get unlimited web for 15 bucks!!
Say you sell a hamburger for $10 and the guy next door sold one for $5. Now, say for the last year more of his customers start coming to your restaurant very few of your customer base goes to his... and you outsell him in hamburgers and make a much bigger profit. Why in the world would you wanna change your business model?
You gotta come up with a different excuse as to why people prefer the VZW Hamburger which is more costly.
The i730 is so much better than them, it's laughable.
Plus, the Treo doesn't even work half the time because it has no Memory, and the Q is a smartphone, and who wants a smartphone?
you can get a Q for FREE if you are eligable for your NE2 (299.99 - 100$ MIR - 99.99$ NE2 credit - 100$ advance device credit = Free Q)
you can bundle your ne2, with the 100$ mir, with the 100$ advance device credit (100$ instant credit if you sign up for an unlimited smartphone bba plan at 44.99 or less if its bundled.)
thats 300$ off a 300$ phone. aka a FREE Q
most of them dont freeze up and they dont freeze up every second. but some do freeze up thats true. there has been some software issues with the Q at launch but for the most part they have been kinked out. and if you get a bad one we can FRU it out 👿
And the Q is still a smartphone. Look at that Pantec. That one doesn't even have QWERTY.
Who wants a smartphone? If you want PDA funtions, they are almost useless b/c of lack of QWERTY or Touchscreen.
is a Treo PDA better then a Q smartphone? in many ways yes it is, if the touch screen and pda functions are very important to you then get a treo or a 6700. if not and you want something a little cheaper with alot of the same features then get a Q
why even argue about this? both are available.
I have never been able to look at a working i730 in a retail store but i hear they are great.
If the i770 or i760 don't come to the states, I suggest getting an i730 from Verizon or an i830 from Sprint if you want a good PDA phone.
the Q works just fine for most people unless you need to edit word/excel documents. It doesn't freeze anymore after you get the software upgrade which was released months ago. I stream TV onto it with no problems or freezing(you can do it in moderation and not get it canceled people!)
The treo is hit or miss, I personally don't like it much but know many pe...

My brother uses the i730 with his slingbox all the time, he's never been throttled. He's also gone through various i730s (usually his own fault, he shattered the screen recently), but, as I said, usually never the devices fault.
I can't stand the Q...
