LG VX8600 & music essentials kit
Is it a must to get the music essentials kit to transfer music from my computer to phone? And to hold a decent amount of songs I would have to get a memory card, or is that what's in the music essentials kit? This will be my first mp3 player phone and I don't want to go in thinking it's going to cost me $30 and come out having spent $100+.

No you don't. The phone will play MP3's. Just put the card in your computer and copy the mp3s to the My Music folder. You must put the card in the phone first so it will create the folders.

Just a regular SD card reader. The cards come with a larger card that adapts the mini or micro to a regular SD for your reader.
