Sprint Opens SERO Plans to Everyone
Sprint
Written by Christopher Price
Tuesday, 12 December 2006
Sprint's SERO plans are special referral-offers meant to be given to Sprint employees only. These plans are offered to customers who are "friends and family" of Sprint employees. SERO stands for the Sprint Employee Referral Offer. The base SERO plan is a $30/month plan offering 500 Fair & Flexible minutes with unlimited data.

However, Sprint has leaked out through unofficial channels a new manner to sign up for SERO, opening up access to the general public. Users who visit the SERO site and enter the employee email address [email protected] email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to vi...

I am not promoting them but they do have more of a national footprint then Verizon. And have the most roaming partners of any carrier. So please don't make a statement you can't use them outside of a city. Because if verizon did not have roaming (sorry extended network) they would not be in about 9 states. I am in the military and travel all over. Never had a problem!

I'm overstating things, but they do *not* have more of a national footprint than Verizon. That's just crazy talk. You're right that there are places where Verizon doesn't work on its own network (BTW, 1 state is not "about 9" - VZW doesn't have a lot of coverage in some of the Southern states and Oklahoma, but it does actually have it in a few cities out there), but there are a lot more places with T-Mobile.

Don't get me wrong, T-Mobile is a good company, but every company has its niche. T-Mobile's the place to go for great customer service and very low prices. Verizon's the place to go when you want your phone to work.

ok please please look at a map. Alabama, LA, MI, Ok, to name a few were there service is non existant. Go to sprint and go to their service map and compare it with verizon network only. You will be surprised!!!

What he means by that is that Verizon doesn't own very many towers in those states. But since there are CDMA towers in those states, Verizon phones can roam on those towers. And seeing as how Verizon doesn't charge for roaming, it seems like you are both right 😎

Sure it might be a little desperate that doesn't take away from it being a great deal.

1250 min and unlimited data for 50 bucks 😲

verizon charges 45 bucks for just data alone and its not even unlimited

This is all fine and dandy until you need to upgrade your phone and they bang you for another activation fee besides the ones you pay when you port..

And also, VZW UNLIMITED DATA is $45 and for sure is unlimited...

Check your fact before spouting off..

TROLL!!!
...
phonemechanic

Dec 12, 2006, 1:51 PM
*sigh* No, it's not technically unlimited. VZW has a 5GB cap. If you go beyond that, your service gets terminated. While every company's T&C state that excessive use is not permitted, VZW is the only one who puts a cap in writing. 😕

Dec 12, 2006, 1:56 PM
there is actually a very good reason for that. and i havent read anywhere that when you hit 5 gigs you are termed i dont think thats correct. i hear they will for sure look into the high usage though. i use more than 5 per month and i havent been termed so it cant be cut and dry like that.
...
phonemechanic

Dec 12, 2006, 2:01 PM
Hmm..I'll be honest. You're the first person that I've heard of that hasn't been termed for going over. How does VZW look into it? I know what you're using it for isn't monitored. Just the amount of data flow. What about when you get past 5GB? Can they track what websites you've been using? Or music downloads? Streaming video?
...
djatvzw

Dec 12, 2006, 2:24 PM
i dont think they can track anything but maybe i have been lucky. i never took the 5 gig thing that seriously but i have seen people termed but they activated again? i dont know its a weird situation that i dont know how they can monitor all that well.

The TOS states 5 GB but it has been reported in several forums the actual termination limit is 10 gigs and it is a hard limit, go over and your are terminated.

Plus you can't download third party apps with verizon, or streaming video, etc etc

With Sprints true unlimited unrestricted data you can!
...
phonemechanic

Dec 12, 2006, 2:07 PM
This is true. But that doesn't mean that you'll never violate the T&C. As it states, if you use it excessively, they have the right to terminate service. Same goes for Cingular and T-Mobile. Third party apps aside, VZW posts what the cap is while the other carriers don't.

And explain to me how $45 for restricted "unlimited" data is better than free unrestricted unlimited data with a larger and faster broadband network! 🙄

I think You need to check your facts.

you should totally go with Sprint's SERO! T-mobile is not nearly as good as this offer!

1. MyFaves Starts @ $40 per month 😛

2. T-Mobiles network is EDGE data which is soo slow, plus data coverage isnt even that good

3. T-mobiles coverage sucks. In fact, Sprint probably has the best Voice network, after roaming

4. Sprints data is included in this $30 offer and its truely unlimited

5. Sprint has the...

for getting more customers. because their numbers have really tanked. Tanked bad. How could a major national carrier end up with minus postpaid activations?!? WOW. So they are doing these things out of despiration. 2 quarters with negative net adds would look horrid. That would put their yearly into net loss on new customers. So they have to do something...

This probably means a couple of things:

Sprint has a very bad net adds so far this quarter.

If many people jump on board it means more new lines of activation for Verizon in 2 years.

Time to sell any Sprint stock you have left... unless you hear the word merger, then buy buy buy!

I don't promote people leaving Verizon or anyone else, but NOW, does everyone finally see what I was talking about in my post on Verizon needing to lower their prices? They don't even have plans that will compete with Sprint's CURRENT plans, or anyone else's for that matter. It's time for VZW to wake up and smell the coffee. They're gonna get hammered on this one if they don't!
