EVDO does not mean unlimited internet. You can get unlimited internet on a regular phone by subscribing to the $15/mo VCAST pack. It's not the same thing, though, on a PDA.

The VAST service for $15.00 gives you unlimited Mobile Web. Mobile Web and Unlimited Internet are not the same thing.

Online you will not be able to purchase a Q seperate from the data programs. One way or another, you will be forced into either the 10Mb plan or the Unlimited. You might try purchasing over the phone, or walking into a store and buying it on the plan that way. Don't be surprised if the cost of the phone goes up though.

With regards to the Vcast package, this will not help you on the Q. The Q is considered an advanced device and requires a seperate data plan. The lowest you'll be able to go is the pay per kb service, which will be fine as long as you never connnect to the internet. Otherwise, strongly consider at least the 10Mb package until you are comfortable with your Q.

If you don't plan on getting a data plan, you really shouldn't buy a Q, especially if you plan on checking your email. You can always get a regular phone, have a regular calendar and get V Cast with unlimited mobile web for $15. You can't get pay as you go online because too many people would end up with super huge bills.

Otherwise data plans are 10MB $24.99, unlimited $44.99, or pay as you go $0.015/kb (yes that's a penny and a half per kb). At least start off with the 10 MB, until you figure out how much you're going to need.

You are incorrect, sir. A Motorola Q, like a PalmTreo, is a "Smartphone" and must have a PDA Data feature (Pay as you go, 10mb @ $24.99, Unlimited @ $44.99). I strongly recommend at least the 10mb package your first month and track your usage online to ensure you do not go over. I can not tell you how many times I have said this same thing to customers, watched them select Pay as you go, and then reviewed their account next month to see $2,000 bills for data charges. That $.015/kb doesn't seem like much, but it builds up FAST. Especially since you are billed kb rate for EVERY pix/flix message you send, even with the Unlimited TXT/PIX/FLIX packs.
