Voice Clarity Improvement???

As most of us know approx. 90% of carriers' revenue is from voice. Because of family plans, competition etc, carriers have been looking at ways to generate more revenue - enter data. BUT does anyone really know when voice clarity will improve? I've read articles in Wireless Week and some of the other wireless news sources and it's in the works, but curious to know if anyone knows about upgraded voice clarity. Since voice is the main revenue driver it would seem prudent for the carriers to provide outstanding voice calls (better than landline). Thanks!

Since voice clarity is a big issue for you. I would def take the freedom to recommend a GSM carrier (Cingular, SunCom, T-Mobile) I mentioned 3 to avoid a flame war btw. GSM get clearer calls than CDMA. Give it a shot, if you don't think your calls are clearer on GSM just switch back 😢

I don't think he was complaining that verizon has poor voice quality - which it obviously does not. I'm pretty sure the comment was regarding the "evolution" of voice.. although I'm not sure how much clearer it can get then with the big V. 🤣

ahh yes! Thank you, verizonplayah, for articulating better than me! Great word, evolution... the evolution of voice. I use the treo 700p which I think sounds clearer than most over VZW phones. I'm in the Bay Area and Cingular is garbage. I can't stand talking to people on Cingular's network. I know IMMEDIATELY when I'm on the phone with Cingular people. I am aware that GSM does sound a bit clearer, but I will not sacrifice a marginally clearer call for Verizon's network. It's second to none out here. I'm sure Qualcomm/VZW/CDMA players have something in the works for clearer voice...

But it's so much easier to send a text message that talk to someone. 😎
