Now that unlocking is officially ok...
...will Verizon be loosening up on their phone crippling, i.e. bluetooth et al? I'm been planning to jump ship ever since the v710 fiasco 2 years ago, and now that my contract is up, I'm looking heavily at other options. However, I'd like to keep verizon if at all possible since I have a $10 a month lifetime discount from my job 10 years ago.

They already have the 8600/9900 have working blue tooth. The ring tone folder is still locked but all carriers are doing that.

they are still locking the ring tone folder? i'm am so tired of hacking every new phone to enable crippled features

What hacking do you have to do? I don't see what the problem is you can bluetooth all the mp3 and pics you want, you just can't set the mp3 to ringtones...but you can just email them to yourself and then you're g2g!
what exactly are you frustrated by?

Plus, the Krzr and Razr are both pretty easy to unlock, I had a customer figure out how to use MP3s on his Krzr as ringtones within seconds of activation. So I know it can't be too hard.

ok, that helps. so do the Krzr and Razr have DUN and FTP enabled now, or at after unlocking?
...
Verizon phones were never locked in the first place.
