Auto Train

OK, I have a feeling this is complete and utter BS since I live in NJ and have benefited from NJ Transit my whole life, but I digress...

Someone told me that you are no longer able to use your cell phone on the Amtrak Auto Train because it messes with something on the train.

And since I know that is complete crap, has anybody been on it with VZW service? How is it? Are there any dead spots? Last time I was on it I had Sprint.

My GF has called me a few times to tell me to haull my @ss over to Union Station and pick her up. Maybe this a new rule, but even if it was, it would be very hard to enforce. I rode the amtrack to chicago about a moth ago and the chick next to me was running her mouth for a half-hour on her cell phone as soon as she go within city limits (heh thats when i noticed she has a att phone... "how many bars do you have?" in her case: none till we hit the inner suburbs).

What should be a new rule? No ATT phones allowed outside of city limits?

Dont I know it, I had Sprint service for a total of 5 months, and was most of the time wlaking around outside like a zombie trying to get a signal, when I was in the SW burbs (Orland Park), or on the wrong side of a house.

I have never personally been on this Amtrak train that you speak of, but I do get a complaint from time to time from cx's that do say they get dropped calls once in a while. I don't know this for a fact but some areas such as that and subway tunnels there are supposed to be repeaters in the tunnels to asst with signal.
