I am about to get my first cell phone! All I want to do is make phone calls (unusual, I know). I need a very clear, easy to read screen and numbers. I have settled on Verizon. Any suggestions. Thanks, DDoug

LG VX 4500 for flip phones and Nokia 3589i for open faced phones.
...
I would personally recommend the LG-3200; doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, thus is inexpensive; color screen/trimode/and from experience offers clear calls;
after rebate is 29.99 BOGO if you want 2 😁
...
the only reason i dont like the 3200 is because there is no external call.
...
Back in the day having a extending antenna was helpful, but the newer phone that are out now really don't make much difference. Generally the phones that have less of the extra's have better reception & better sound, than say the ones with camera's built in.
...
Just FYI....The LG-3200 is Buy One Get the 2nd free after two mail in rebates. ie. Purchase two Lg 3200's @ $79.99 and you will recieve two $50.00 VMIR...Hence BOGO.....
...
ok...did you read verizonccemp's reply incorrectly? Anyways, way to clarify.
Besides the point the question is for one phone. Hey doug are you planning on opening up another line on the acct so you can take advantage of a BOGO? More than likely no.

What is VMIR and BOGO? I don't think I need two phones. I looked at the LG 3200 and thought that the Samsung (I don't know what model but it didn't have a camera and was a "clamshell") was much clearer. But I didn't know how to evaluate them. DDoug

(Mail In Rebate / Buy One Get One)
very similar phones LG 3200 and the Samsung A650 but the Samsung is 59.99 after a $50 rebate where the LG is only 29.99; both good phones though 😉

Thanks for deciphering for a novice! I may try one for a week and see (they've a 2 week trial). I do want to be able to read it without putting on my reading glasses! DDoug

Its always good to have a backup phone incase something happens to one. 😉

I never thought of that. I wonder if I have to sign up for another phone number or if I can just get the phone. DDoug
...
That I'm not sure about.
...
The buy one get one free deals are only on two lines. Just to clarify, you cannot have one line of service and two handsets with the BOGO offers.
...
What he means is that you cannot have 2 seperate phones on the same mobile telephone number. Just use the extra one as a back up phone or give it to someone as a gift.
...
you have to have 2 activated lines for the bogo
...
Thanks for reading my post 😢
...
No you don't have to sign up for another line of service if you get a bogo.
...
😕 where did you get your info from; I know for a fact that BOGO's require a second line of service!
...
I am a customer service rep for VZW
...
I am as well; check the M&P
...
I did sorry, verizonccemp. Check my last input.
...
Ok, ok so I screwed up. My apologies for my mis information. I just checked the VZW M&P's. You do have to set up a new line of service for the free phone that you get on a bogo deal. Just to clearify my reason for my previous answer was based on verbal comm from sup's & other co-workers. Truthfully VZW M&P informational sucks, I hate it try and do a keyword search really sucks on it. Again my apologies. From now I will check my VZW resources that I have before I make anymore comments.
...
no? So you can have one line elilgible for an upgrade and that's it? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
That's hillarious
...
NO, no that's not whats being discussed. But in response to your inquiry. If you currently have multiple lines of service w/ VZW dependent on the contract status of each individual line you may or may not be eligible for phone upgrades. Under normal contracts w/out any extra BS you may have to look into for cx upgrade eligible. If you start a 1yr contract & you complete 10 months of that 1yr contract then you will be eligible for a upgrade after 10 months. If you start a contract for 2yrs, after 22 months of that 24 month contract then your eligible for a upgrade, at the promo price of what ever phone you get as well as a new every two discount which is a $100.00 instant credit off the new phone, on top of that promo price, and you get the r...

I was laughing at your BOGO statement you made earlier, it still cracks me up.
So what is being discussed????? I beleive the discussion was about BOGOs and now its plain old eligibility?
I know how upgrade eligibility works, thanks though.
...
Yes, perhaps you do, but I know there are a lot of scmucks out there that don't have a clue. Either because there lied too by sales rep's, or the consumer just is a complete dumb ass.
...
Question, who are you insulting? The customer for asking the question, or yourself for giving the wrong answer??? No offense, I just don't agree with any insults for an honest question.
...
You're just as guilty as any "lying" sales rep for answering before you do your research. You misinformed a curios customer. And to the statement of not having time to research. Take the time to find the answer before you take the time to answer!
...
Well, Like i said earlier if the research tools were better designed and I had all damned day to do the research I would. I don't wanna give out bad info. I hate people that do give out bad info, and that is also why I explicitely apologized. But, the fact that remains is that all call centers only care about numbers, average handle time, acw time, QA scores, etc. It's a load of crap. I am a consumer I appreciate getting good help as well as providing good help. And in the atmosphere such as a call center is most of the time it's impossible, and you can only rely on what you maintain in your damned skull. Wether that be from research or verbal comm'd.
...
I understood your apology, but you proceeded to make remarks towards others giving false info. That is hypocritical. You sound like you don't enjoy your job because you have stats to maintain. What company have you ever worked for that didn't expect something of you other than sit there 40 hours a week. Infomanager is not hard to use, just look for it. Quit whining about everyone else making your life harder.
...
Infomanager rocks, there is so much info its unbeleivable. You just have to know where to look
...
Yes, it could Rock if only someone could make it user friendly. Right now it's a chaotic mess, and has been for as long as I have been a VZW rep.

Just curious....How long have you been a rep? I've been reading some the responses and as a fellow customer serv rep kinda makes me wonder?

What sort of crack are you smokin?!? IM is probably the tool I use most often during my particular day. You want non-user-friendly, go to work for Sprint or AT&T. Then you'll see 'not user friendly' in spades.
...
When did I make a insult? 😲
...
Oh, never mind, I see now, well let me elaborate on that statement when I say dumb ass. I mainly refer to those consumers that just say at time of sale or whatever. "Ya, ya just get my damned phone activated so I can get out of here"! They don't wanna hear anything, they don't wanna read anything, etc., etc.
...
Also keep in mind the new eligibility exceptions--i'm not sure if it was implemented nationwide but I know the west has these new exceptions(new as of March or Feb '04)
...
There are a few exceptions yes, to eligibility policies. Such as "Early Upgrades".
