A question about the Motorola V 710
I understand that the V 710 uses the same charging port as did previous Motorola models which had problems with the charging port malfunctioning. Does anyone know whether Motorola strengthened the charging port on the V 710, or is it likely that this model will experience the same problems as did other recent Motorola models?

It is the same. I dont see any improvements made to it, it is very delicate, you have to be very careful, don't pull the phone while charging by the cable and so forth, I mean common sense stuff. I heard the V710 is the last model to to have this port, hopefully the next series will have a much stronger port. 🙂

Thank God. I like Motorola, but I hate that port. Very poor design.

Have there been problems with the port if one is reasonably careful, without being obsessive about it?

I've got a v60x and I've only had a few problems. I'm reasonable careful and the best advice I can give is to make damn sure you hear that little "charging" chime when you plug it in. If it says charging on the outside display that's even better (though the v60 doesn't, teh 710 might, I dont' know). After that, it'll keep on keepin on as long as the plug is seated and it stays pretty still...which mine does while it's charging. If you're talking on it plugged in it'll be obvious when the plug slips...but mine hardly ever does.

from what I've seen a few more models will be comin out with this design. V620, A630, V551, etc. But any brand new model like the V3 seems to be replacing it
