About the VZW per-text rate hike, can I cancel my contract without ETF, but still keep my line? Like I DONT want to cancel my line, but can I remove the contract without ETF and then
get a new phone?

I have 5 more months on my contract, but I want a Samsung i730 now. Can I call *611 and have them take the contract off for free (since no ETFs) and upgrade to the i730 online? That would be a lot easier than cancelling then siging again..

no one can answer that because each rep will handle it differently more than likely. So keep calling until you get your answer if you get your answer you want!

No, they will not Upgrade you if you are not eligible for an upgrade. Cancelling service then resigning up will not make you a new customer and will also not make you eligible for an upgrade.

You have 3 choices to get the deal you are look...

If you are really that desperate to get a 730 then just add an additional line of service for $9.99 a month. You can put your old handset on the new number and put the 730 on your existing number. If you only have 5 months left it will just be $50 overall plus activation. You then can find a friend or family member to take over your new number. They can do a bill name change and take over the new contract. But they won't get a new phone for 22 months. They will have to use your old handset or buy a handset where ever they can get one.

The honest answer is no, they could change your Contract End Date, they can cancel your line, but this will not change your upgrade date since they are 2 different dates. Sorry man, the Contract doesn't say when we make a change you can upgrade your phone.
