Billing Error

spinster

Good morning,

I am a Verizon user and have noticed on my call detail I get with my bill that every incoming call is marked with the call fwd feature. Is this normal? I have never used that feature.

It does not mean that call forwarding was on, this only appears if your call goes to a Landline. Cell to cell is one thing because it may not need a landline carrier to make the call unless it is long distance, but calls to landlines or long distance cell to cell that travel over a landline are forwarded to a landline provider to handle the call. There is no charge for this.

What this means is that somewhere, somehow, your call was forwarded. This may mean that Call Forwarding was turned on, but more likely means that you were in motion or at the service limits of two separate towers, and the call was handed off from one tower to the next, or forwarded. This is even more likely if you might have moved from a VZW owned tower to an extended network tower owned by another carrier. Hope this helps.

VZW owned tower to an extended network tower owned by another carrier.

I don't hink it is possible to hand off to another carrier's tower. Your call will be dropped!

I have watched this hand off happen in the behind the scenes systems. Not only can it happen, it will, as long as your carrier and the other carrier have a reciprocal roaming agreement and adequate technical support.
