VZ Navigator database 5 years out-of-date

I've used VZ Navigator now in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. I've noticed that the database of roads and physical addresses seems very up-to-date, but if you try to look up restaurants, stores, etc. -- that part of it is 5 years or more out-of-date. It would be handy when you are traveling to have current restaurants and stuff listed. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

The restaurants, stores, etc. are somehow linked to the Yellow / Business directory pages. Why would they keep separate databases?

...It's almost as if they are linked to a static copy of a 2000 or 2001 directory.

I've used the restaurant and hotel locator in several areas of the country, never a problem. Anything that I looked for was there. This was in Chicago, Boston, Maine, Vermont, Michigan, and onece in Oregon.

I use it almost everyday. It works great and I've been able to find anything I want every time.

Hm. Very interesting. At home in Cleveland, Ohio, and at my parents in New Haven, Conn (and on the way on route 80 in PA) I would find that anything that was built more recently than about the year 2000 would not appear in the directory, and anything that had closed since then would still be listed. Just for one example, there are two large shopping centers near me, one built in 2001 and one built two or three years ago. None of the coffee shops, restaurants, or stores in those centers are yet listed. Obviously I don't care about that near home, because I know what those places are, but I do care if it's the same when traveling... Maybe I need to live in the pacific northwest. 🙂
