hey guys, i'm still not clear....
GSM is better, the main reason that cdma is so prominent in the USA is because it was originally designed for the gov't because it is supposedly not breakable the digital coding that is. So the gov't used to use it for the secret comm's, they may still do use to a certain degree. Though I am sure they are probably using something else primarily now.

It depends on the buying criteria of the eventual user. If using your phone in France is the biggest consideration then go GSM. If you are staying in the USA then CDMA definitely has the advantage. Here are some of the reasons why:

* Faster data speeds
* Superior air interface (TDMA vs CDMA)
* Backward compatibility to older versions of CDMA and analog.
* Upgradable in stages without "orphaning" previous version customers.

* More built out in the USA meaning more places that you can use a CDMA phone.
