We received a special deal in the mail from Verizon. The deal is an additional 30 dollars off of a phone plus a coupon for 20 dollars off accessories. This deal is only good through phone sales. My question is. If we walk into a Verizon store would they give us the same deal.

Find an independent dealer in the area, chances are their "normal" price beats the crap out of VZW's corp store price... Its just how the world works. 🙂

Not necessarily true, but an independent dealer might be more likely to strike a deal with you just to get the sale. I don't necessarily like it (since I actually work for VZW), but there it is.

You are correct. Went to Verizon store last night and they would not give us an additional $30.00 off. "Only through phone sales". Why does Verizon compete against its own retail stores. What is the difference between phone sales and retail (besides overhead etc..) Are there shipping charges when ordering through phone sales. What about warranty replacement/repair?

Warranty replacement & repair are handled through VZW Commo stores. Don't know about shipping, I've never worked telesales. I'd guess standard is free, you pay the difference for overnight or 2-day.
Why do they compete? Who knows... when you're talking about huge companies like Cingular, VZW, ATTWS, etc., just roll your eyes, shrug your shoulders & say, "I dunno". Lots of times they'll do things that make sense to SOMEBODY in the company, just not the rank-and-file folks.

It's a marketing promotion (through marketing) so we absorb the cost not the store; also take into consideration inventory. There is a little competition. shipping(in the west) for accesories is $4, and for phones is $7. Manufacturer's warranty is still valid on all purchases.
You seem so disturbed/annoyed that you have to order through phone sales. Shipping time is only 2 or 3 days. The phone sales and mkting dept are giving you deal and it seems that you're still not happy. W/ the time and effort you have spent posting and discussing about this mailer you could of ordered the equipment and got it by now, and/or I personally would of just went to a store(if they have same equipment offered on the mailer) and spent the extra $30 especia...
