I dont think we will pass 2.4 mill no. theres no way that AMPd will add anywhere near 750k subscribers like Tracfone did.
VZW will definantly add alot more then Cingular/Gophone combined did but not more then Cingular w/ GoPhone + Tracphone (who is doing better then sprint lol)

You do know that Tracfone sells CDMA service through Verizon as well, don't you? And those numbers are included in Verizon's count too. 😉

Yes, addidg a lot less resellers and focusing on people that are loyal to VZW and want their services. Cingular is picking out of the scrapbucket as much as they can. VZW added 2.1 milion postpaid while Cingular less than 900k??? The new at&t doesn't care who they add so they go to resellers and say "help us sell, we can't beat VZW alone"

Cingy can keep their 2.4 million and say what they will, VZW is posting industry leading churn, and they added more customers in 2006 than anyone, including the new at&t. How do you like thos apples 😉

i think 2.4 would be good. i wouldnt be shocked if vzw added double the postpaid retail subs that att did. with them still being below 900k in postpaid subs is pathetic especially in the 4q which is supposed to be the highest quarter. and they are stressing about it guaranteed. adding a bunch of prepaid is nice but those numbers could be gone next month. you cant rely on prepaid to keep a company profitable.

We'll have to wait for those numbers to come out. Industry magazines like Wireless Week and RCRnews said the Q4 was a surprisingly slow quarter...

the numbers i saw didnt look slow at all. but i do know that adding under 900k is not a good sign. and i guess cingy went for prepaid to make up that difference. smart for the short term but not a good business strategy. tomorrow morning is going to be very interesting.

I think it is a very fine balance. The trick is to have a pre-paid offering that is attractive, but not TOO attractive. For example, a few years ago Alltel launched Boomerang which was a pre-paid offering that initially offered 300 peak and 3000 off-peak minutes for $34.95 per month. The unbelievable thing was that their National Freedom offering at the time was $35 with 300 peak and Unlimited off-peak. This was not a great strategy. Sure the National Freedom coverage area was more extensive, but for Joe Blow Wal-Mart shopper who was not ever going to leave his home town it was a no-brainer. One does not want to have a pre-paid offering that is more attractive than one's post paid. Pre-paid should be for those consumers for who are ...
