Software Update
Is there a software update for the Audiovox CDM-8900. I was just wondering because my friends have the LG VX6000 and the Audiovox CDM-8600, and their GetItNow service has so many more programs than my phone..in particular I'm speaking of the mobile IM program available on the 6000 and the 8600. How can I get that program on my phone (8900)?

Sorry, the vox8900 doesn't support that app in Get it Now. However, you can use MSN and Yahoo! messenger in mobile web.
To check the software version of your phone from the main display press menu--> 7. Settings--> 7. phone info-->1. s/w version.

Both-it's just not available on the vox.
Off the top of my head the update makes the incoming call on the external display show longer and you can turn off the shutter sound.

There might be an update, but the phone is a simple make-and-recieve-calls phone. Doesn't do a whole lot of fancy stuff.
The 6019i is supposed to be a VZW phone, meant to replace the 3589i, but it is likely to be a low-end phone much like the one it replaces. Note that in this particular case, 'low-end' does not mean 'cheap junk'. It's a good phone for old folks, the technology-naive & people who want a free/inexpensive phone.
