South Korea

Since Verizon can be used in South Korea, can someone please tell me which phones would work there.

Is it possible to buy a pre-paid sim card over there to use with the phone?

I would appreciated if someone could help me out with this!

Thanks,
rb

Verizon Wireless phones don't use SIM cards. The reason why Korean phones have them is because they support UMTS there as well as the CDMA800 that Verizon Wireless uses in the states. You could take a UMTS 2100 phone there if you want to use a Korean SIM card.

Thank you for your reply.

I am sorry about my ignorance, but I am not familiar with CDMA - guess I should have done some more research 🤭 -

Can you name some of the UMTS 2100 phones that would work there.

Thanks again!

There are very few of those in the USA. You'd probably have to go through an importer like www.myworldphone.com

No problem. Are you going to stick with the big cities like Seoul, Daegu, and Busan or are you going to be in the countryside? UMTS 2100 coverage is not as good as the CDMA 800 coverage there last time I checked and is used more for the data capabilities.
