Verizon OTA Programming

Hey Everyone -

We are going to start selling Verizon in a few months and I was wondering if the OTA Programming is the same as Alltel. I heard there is an extra number after the *228 that brings you right into activation. Thanks!

Additional Line 6mo. Later

My apologies if this has been addressed before, if so, any one have a link to redirect me?

SITUATION:
Currently, I have a Nationwide Basic Family SharePlan w/700mins. which I renewed in Nov. 2008 (total of 3 lines including the primary). My sister is also a VZW customer, who had her own basic account (contract ended last summer, but she had not gone in to renew her contract), is thinking about adding onto the family plan with me.

CONCERNS:
I was wondering if anyone could clarify, or provide more information in regards to these points:

1. Would adding a line now extend my current family plan contract?

2. I talked to a rep. today, and she said that my sister could renew her expired contract now to not lose her $50 credit for a ne...

Tiered Insurance

Saw an update that VZW will be changing their insurance deductibles. They will adopt the tiered policy like other carriers. It will be 85.00 for advanced devices (PDAs, Smartphones, BB, Voyager, Glyde, Dare - type devices with HTML browsers) and 39.00 for regular handsets. This will go into effect for devices purchased after 05/17/09. There a few changes to the monthly cost as well of the features.

Bought Krave and.......

returned it after about an hour. I ordered it on Friday night, it arrived on Tuesday. I activated it and played with it for about two hours. Didn't even pull the plastic off the touch screen. Paid $79 for it and also ordered a 2gig card with it.

Today, I noticed that the Voyager went on sale, buy one get one, for the same price. Could have puked. So, I packed the Krave up and returned it, and promptly ordered two voyagers for my wife and I. I am wondering what will charges will i have to pay for returning the Krave, and, I had to use my moms NE2 to get my Voyager at the discounted price before my Krave made it back to Verizon. What should i expect, considering the 30 day guarantee? thanks for your input!!!

More Questions for VZW Corp Employees

I was told I ma being provided a "smart phone" with email access. What are the chances I'll be getting a Storm?

If not, then will I be bale to buy one and use it on the account they are giving me?

As an Assistant Manager will they let me work overtime, or are they like my current job and won't let you get over 45 hrs?

Thanks for the responses.... I just don't have anyone to ask here b/c they are Alltel and I don't think they know yet either.

LG Glance VX 7100

Now be kind folks > but all I want is a candybar phone with bluetooth. So this phone is very interesting to me to say the least. Apparently it is FCC approved for Verizon. Anyone can guess when it will be available ?

Saved voicemails to MP3?

I have about 12 old messages (some more than two years old) on my account, and I want to save them as MP3 files, as high quality as possible. I see Verizon offers a service to back them up, but at a steep $5 each.

Anyone have experience in this?

Need VZ Corporate Employee's Help

I was just hired on with VZ (ASM) and in my area we will be switching from Alltel to VZW very soon. My orientation is mid May... but my question is this:

What is the dress code for your corp stores? Black slacks? Do you guys have polos, or are they button ups?

All info is appreciated...

Any VZW Corp. Empolyees here?

I have an interview for an ASM position. I was wondering what ASMs typically make per year. They did tell me it was a 75%/25% (salary/comm) blend.

They told me what the salary "starts" at. However they did say it would go up with expierence. I have 7 total years in the wireless business (3 of which I owned a chain of indirects)... So anyone have any clue what they might start me out at?

Anyone have any input as a current VZW employee on anything else?

Do you get free minutes on say a family plan or anything like that?

Thanks!

Verizon, AT&T, Sprint & T-Mobile

Why don't all the carriers pool their money, build a massive countrywide LTE network, use the same antennas & equipment, but resell their individual different services?

We would benifit greatly from this because all phones would work on all networks because they would all work on the same band, upgrades could be completed much faster because of the amount of capital the companies would share, they could focus on their applications and services rather than the network.

They are doing this in Finland now. Just think of all the waste of equipment we would save on. They should donate their old CDMA/GSM equipment to developing nations like Africa.

I know, its only a dream. =]

Unsolicited calls

Alright maybe it’s just me. But I’ve bounced around from carrier to carrier and when with VZW I seem to get the most unsolicited phones calls ever. 😡
My number is even registered with the national do not call list, still when with VZW unsolicited phone calls.

I don’t get it, is VZW the worst offender of selling their customers information or what? 👀

I’m posting because it’s getting bad, a dozen or so calls over the last week. Just re up’d with VZW…hmm. 🤨

Omnia and Skype

Downloaded Skype for WinMob; won't install. Get alert that it's "not a valid pocket pc application" even though the Omnia is listed on Skype's website.

Is this another instance of Verizon locking down parts of its phone? Suggestions welcome as I was hoping to use it via wifi in Europe.

US Virgin Islands

Are US Virgin Islands part of the US of A or not? Why does VZW charge $1.99/min for "CDMA roaming" inside a US territory?

Verizon's Network Extender is awesome!

I'm just helping get the word out that if anyone is considering getting a Network Extender but still a little skiddish if it would be worth it...let me tell ya, IT IS! Even though I get coverage indoors I still don't have 4 bars, more like one or two. I was able to make and recieve calls but my battery was draining faster due to weak signal. After installing the Netword Extender in my house I have full signal and even better crystal clear call quality. Its "plug and play" which means you basically hook it up and it takes care of itself. And yes you can still use EVDO on your phone. The network extender DOES NOT support EVDO but if there is current EVDO coverage in your area you'll still be able to use it despite being connected to the ...

Phones that accept certain software

Disregarding smart phones, which phones can process Bible reading software (Please no religious comments or debates. I just think I should be specific with the software in case it's needed for answering)? So far I only have the Dare as a suitable option, and that's what the online Verizon rep told me.

Any other options? Anything coming out in the very near future with the same capabilities? I'm staying away from smart phones because I don't want to pay for the required data plan. I don't even text message (just accept them from someone once in a while). I basically just require the processor and large enough screen. Thanks!
