My Hiptop experience with Suncom.
It worked beautifully the first month. Then it started to get ugly. I dealt with it losing reception occasionally, then it started to do it often. I called Suncom and they did some "over the air" message and asked me to restart my phone. They told me it was a temporary fix and to call tech support to get a better fix. So I called and get no help from tech support and they wrote on my account to go to a store. I don't want to go to the store because I work screwy hours so I ignore this.
So it works wonderfully, then after a couple of weeks goes back to not working at all. It would lose complete signal. I would restart it and make ONE phone call, get off the phone and it would drop all signal. I've been late to get where I was going because of this. So I called customer service AGAIN after restarting it six times only to drop my reception each time. They told me they won't help me because they wrote on my account to go to the store. Thanks for nothing! I just restarted my phone six times to get a call through! (Basically the six times was because the customer service would put me on hold because they were busy and then it would just drop the call after a while.)
So I go to the store as I've been asked to. (I went to a kiosk eariler and they couldn't help me but they scoffed and said "Who doesn't have problems with the hiptop?") I end up feeling justified for not wanting to go to the store in the first place. So I go and tell them what happened and they were say "I don't know why they sent you here, we can't do anything in a store, but we can call tech support for you!"
Talk to tech support and they suggest I buy a new phone! They recommended nokia or I could buy a new hiptop 3! The store rep said that "They've always had problems with hiptops!"
In the end, I got told "Too bad. So sad."
Other than this problem, I've NEVER EVER had to call Suncom ever and everything has always been fine! (I normally swear by Nokia, but I don't like anything we have right now.)
And to this day, my hiptop(yes even after a hard reset)just drops it's reception randomly, in places where it gets full reception normally.
I plan to buy a new phone when I can, been checking out the sony w810. I'm interested because number one, it's not a flip phone. Number two, I do a lot of mobile blogging and it's got a sweet camera. Has anyone bought this phone from suncom? Does it hold reception?
What I love about this phone is it picks up reception real quick. If it loses it it picks up ASAP. It does more than I expected.
