As a long standing AT&T Wireless customer, it's nice that there has been some welcome changes to new services, like offering unlimited mmode data as an option.
However, as we all know, it's been a while since some better services have been offered, and a better phone seletion has been lacking as of lately.
It is likely that the takeover by Cingular, which is rumored to be well on it's way, could be affecting many "new" things. Maybe we will see much more coming once there is final approval. If the word comes within a week or even a month, a positive change in offerings in all aspects would be more than nice to see.

what "new" things are you talking about. there have been a TON of great deals for existing customers. lots and lots of extra minutes with only one year agreements. better minutes then ive ever seen offered by any company. push to talk is actually coming along. UMTS launched. shared text plans came out. unlimited mmode.
...
There are a lot of things that AT&T Wireless has not yet offered customers, both potential and existing customers. Some progress has been made, like first mentioned, like unlimited mmode and unlimited mobile to mobile.
The point to be made is that the promotions for additional minutes are not being offered to existing customers in contract, only if you are out of contract, which if you're an existing customer, you're likely in a contract...since AT&T Wireless, like most carriers, puts a big push on two year agreements.
Things like flip phones with video recording and EDGE capability, we haven't seen those released yet. How about a nationwide mobile to mobile calling area, like Verizon offers. Since AT&T operates a large EDGE national n...

attws was planning on setting up PTT and actually began to set it up but put plans for it on hold (bigger issues to deal with like gsm coverage area)and those plans have since been re-opened.it would be called talkmode and I see it being mentioned in quite a few of our troubleshooting programs now.
still up to the manufacturers about edge and video recording they need to make the devices.
since about march this year attws has been "targeting" customers whose contracts in 2004. not just out of contract but end in 2004 and that is still the same thing. I actually work in the department that targetted customers ending in 2004. and what other companies actually target ppl under contract and offer them a boatoad of minutes. none that I thin...

Rodedog57 ,you need to focus on your e-mails from tuesday and wednesday as of october 16,2004, unless your contract ends in 2004 AWS customer care no longer proactively offers the new promotions to current customers unless their contract end date in dec,31,2004,
The stopped giving out the "Edge" points for booster on the 16th of October, they are now shifting the focus on the "Q4E" quality now if you have an"AWEsome call" you get 4000 points from AWS, if you hit all 5 targets on the monitor you get 5000 points from Edge, and if you have you "PIR" positivr initial response you are eligible for 3000 points.
The Out of Window PCR is transitioned out on the 16th,thats the replaceent.

#1 heard nothing yet. no emails no hot topics. manager heard nothing of this. maybe its not you maybe its your whole center that is screwed up. and #2 we are talking about what is available right now not the future. wont beleive it till I see it considering youve been wrong about the HVC care and renewal minutes and save promos for a very long time. like how you said noone could have the early evenings on plans less then 59.99 with 1yr agreement. which was totally wrong.t hat was just one of the things
...
hey send me your e-mail and iwill foward on to you tonite if you want cuz 1 came in yesterday, advising how its chnging, and today saying out of window boosters after the 16th don't count.
You damn well know that those promos won't stay on but like any rep who actually gives damn about the customer wouldn't add it on when it comes off within 30 days but thats ok you keep trying to make the customer think you are doing them a favour and we get to clean your mess and FYI, any time i see that happen now, i give the customer the reps first and last name-their AWId and what center they are out of, so they can file a complainton reps like you

Accually he is mostly correct this time as i got the same email he is mentioning. They stopped giving EDGE for customers outside window. But he is wrong about the window. The email changes "in window" from anything in 2004 to anything withing 90 days of contract ending.

dude...isn't the point of the job to sort out the customer's problems so they stay customers? I think that stressing about edge points is causing you to lose your focus.
...
Honestly I couldnt care about the edge rewards. If you are that worried about something as trivial as this then you most certainly have more issues than you think. We are here to serve the customer. Irregardless of whether they are in or out of window, because they can cancel all the same. If everyone left how would you be able to do the bang up job that you claim that you do?
...
Hey agent, doesn't that violate some sort of non disclosure policy where you work?
...
oh of course it does. if he gave that info to a customer they could call in and "Act" like that rep and do all kinds of things. their last name and awid are basically sacred.
...
yeah well... I see all kinds of things being mentioned here that seems pretty dodgy to me...that's the internet for you though, everyone talks like a punk.
...
hey i got news for you, in every event it has the reps AWID in the the typists name and dateand whatcenter they are in, they lie to a customer, you damn right i do, they pull crap ona customer, and i bustthe rep, feedbacks don't work so this is the next step, i don't care if they are a rep in my center or in anyone from paramus NJ to the sacremento Ca location
You do the crime, you do the time
...
doesn't matter what you want to do or what you do or why... if you are disclosing information that should be kept in the company its going to be worth your job --and then who is going to protect the customers from those nasty reps?
...
WHY THE ***K ARE YOU DISCLOSING THAT KIND OF INFORMATION?!? THAT IS PRIVATE INFORMATION! You could go to JAIL for that if anyone ever found it was you;👿
Seriously you can't do that. With your last name the customer can find out certain things such as where you live, what city your in and even your phone # using Reverse Look Up.
In training I had heard that the Edmonton call center received a bomb threat from a cust. because of the same foolery.
I think with that statement "you do crime you do the time" I think we are getting a little over-zealous here.. You need to remember that this is only a job (Even though I do love our job..)-- not our whole life is at stake here but it is if you give out that kind of info to ordinary cu...

I only provide the info if the customers are blatantly lying to the customers and the notes support that lie, and if the customers asks which sometimes they do ,and if was blatantly B.S them to either get them off the phone or get a contract or noth, then Yes i do give them the info they ask for

Still not much of an excuse, it is still unacceptable to give that info and violates company policy and national laws regarding private information.
Seems like my post went in one ear and out the other. I expected a better rebuttal out of you.

You guys calm down. It went from talking about products to a fight. Any anyway if the merger happens, last name is not an issue, because at call centers for Cingular the first thing you say is "Thank you for calling Cingular Wireless, This is (first AND last name).

Business end user care reps can disclose their last names to customers...

it violates privacy policy because with the last name and the id number, that bypasses the verification of the account. So anyone that knows the AWID/name of rep can access any account get personal information, do fraud, or get personal information about customer/address stalk or cause bodily harm to them.
That is the reason why we don't give last names/id's
Won't you feel bad if you gave the id toa customer that was lying, and they ended up finding their ex wife, and killing her...
...
Hey you get reps lying to customers and the notes backing up those lies you damn right i rat those reps out ,they like or BS the customer for the sake of a contract, the Hell with them.
...
I'm just saying you are gonna get fired is all.
...
It is against company policy, for security purposes, to give out a reps last name and AWID and location. If the customer has a complaint, those complaints are to be forwarded to your immediate supervisor and then they will forward it on to the rep's supervisor.
Customer's with an employee's AWID could cause all kinds of havoc within the system, especially those that have called over and over and over again and have some idea as to how we do things.
I believe it goes against the "Security 7" info that was given out in new hire training.
...
What we are "allowed" to give if a customer asks is this (first name, first intial of last name, and last 3 of awid) that is it end of story. If a customer doesnt like that then oh well.....
...
Right, with Cingular dealer codes are internal but names are not.
...
Agent you NEVER EVER EVER give out yours or anyones AWID. Do you know what a customer can do with a first last and AWID? Don't EVER EVER give that out. You can get fired for that with no warning. All a customer needs to file a complaint on someone is the reps first name and the time the calls was made and the wireless number it was made about. Who ever takes the complaint can find the rest.
...
You might want to go read that email again. It says 90 days not Dec 31, 2004. And that is what rodedog said. He said contracts ending withing 3 months.

"Another service that's not being offered is Push-To-Talk, the walkie-talkie service pioneered by Nextel as we all know, and even offered by a small carrier like Alltel, hasn't even been attempted by AT&T Wireless as of yet." by Storm99
As far as this goes, PTT is something new and getting it to work for a whole new network is hard. It was made for Nextel's IDEN network which is fine but Tmobile, ATTWS and Cingular require large amounts of testing before they just release something. (like when Verizon tried to offer it for that month last year, when it fell through that hurt them- spent a lot of money advertising for nothing)

I just got a text message from ATT asking if I wanted unlimited picture messaging until 2006 for 4.99 a month. I thought that was pretty cool. Sounds like a good offer to me. After 2006, it's 20 messages per month. I'm sure something new will come along before that, though.

On Saturday I got a text message from ATT asking if I wanted unlimited picture messaging until 2006 for 4.99 a month. After 2006, it's 20 messages per month. Anybody else get anything like this? I replied to accept it. They said I'd get confirmation that the plan was iin effect soon.

This is a valid AT&T wireless promo. Almost everyone who has sent a pic message in the last 30 days will receive this offer eventually (it just started on the 16th). Everyone who wants this promo is pretty much eligible. The only requirement is that you have a pic message feature $4.99+ on your account. The only exclusions are the gold and silver packages.
