I live in Lousiana. Before leaving for vacation to NJ, i stopped by a Company owned store to make sure that v400 would work in New Jersey where i was going. They told me that Cingular didn't have service there, but ATT did. I have a 32k sim card, not a 64k, but they told me it didn't matter, my phone would work because the v400 works on 1800mhz, and thats what ATT uses in NJ.

Well, i dont have service. How do i get my v400 to start picking up ATT towers?

Thanks!

Make sure you set your network selection to automatic. With the 32k sim your phone will prefer Cingular towers but will still switch to AWS tower if there are not Cingular. What is the Zip of the area you are in? There is a whole in Southern Jersey and i'll check to see if your in it or not.

It is set to Automatic. Zip code is 07853. Its North Jersey, but rural. The cingular rep showed me the MTI map tool, and when he selected "Cingular GSM" there was nothing, but when he selected "ATT GSM" there was excellent coverage.

Thank you so much for you help!

Ya that should be a good AWS zone. Try setting your phone to manual and changing it to AT&T wireless. You may be catching a Cingular tower right on the edge. Like i said your phone will try and use Cingular towers even if all it can do is get a connection. If you force your phone to AWS you will have to change back to automatic when you leave. If you have a new phone that is ENS cabable it might be a good idea to get a 64k SIM. It will cost you $25 but it may be a good investment.

Its a moto v400. Under network settings the only options are "900/1800" or "850/1900". How do i change it to manually pick up ATTWS?

You have no idea how much i appreciate your help! Thanks so much!
