Trapped by promotions!

ticked

I am so frustrated. I've spent hours on the phone with ATT over the last week trying to figure out what my options are.
Last summer I ran out of minutes and when I called in to figure out how to deal with this a really great rep from ATT added several promotions to my plan which upped my minutes to 850. Great!
Now I am needing more minutes, my business is taking off and I want to upgrade to a different plan. I have been trying to decide what to do, because I need a new phone too. I have the Moto T720 and am on my 4th phone. A week ago when I was on the phone with someone from warranty exchange the person I was talking to said she could upgrade my plan and get me a discount on a phone and I could keep my promotions.
I had just gotten the r...

Yes, the mobile to mobile is all ATT and Cingular customers. How many minutes do you need? It sounds like you'd be in our 1250 minutes for $79.99 if 850 minutes wasn't enough. You can also switch over to Cingular while sill under contract and not incur any ETF.

I got news for you, You are with Cingular as of nov. 15,2004.If you cancel your service then try to start up a new service Cingular makes you reinstate your old one- A trick they picked up out of ATT's policies and procedures, but unlike ATT's,their websites are in sync with the old account.

Your only option if you want a cingular plan is to peform a migration from your "legacy" plan, which simply means expired-And yes thats ...

You can also migrate in any Cingular store. You'll have to get a Cingular handset to go with the new Cingular plan.

I appreciate the candid comments.
So if I cancel with ATT and start a new account with Cingular or migrate from ATT to Cingular am I going to be able to get any phone deals?

I sell real estate and I need a very reliable phone, flip phone, good speakerphone, voice activated for car use, great reception, must ring loud enough to hear. I would like a tri-mode phone for the coverage, I don't even see one for Cingular. I don't care about a camera phone but it seems like I have to get one in order to get a decent phone. I have been looking at the Motorola V220, V400, V551.

I would love some recommendations on the best phone for me.

Thanks

Actually almost all cell phones nowadays are tri-mode, if you dont need the camera i would suggest the motoV180, however you said you needed a loud ring and speaker which that phone does not have...Your best bet is going to be the moto v551...yes it has the camera but the ringtone is extrememly loud and the speaker phone is best in the industry.

A tri-mode phone has no benefits within the U.S. Unless you are planning on using your phone outside of the U.S. a dual-band phone would be sufficient enough for your coverage since only the 800(same as 850) and 1900 frequencies are used.

Doesn't a Tri-mode phone switch to analog if there is no digital signal? That is what I meant, the phone that can receive both analog and digital.
Am I misinformed?

No you're not mis-informed. Tri-mode (Analog/Digital/GSM) phones are virtually obsolete and tough to come by in any store. The last one I know of what the SonyEricsson t62u. Tri-band (GSM 850/1900/1800) is a term used so loosely I could see how Tri-Mode could be passed over. Check eBay.

I apologize. Tri-mode is so rare anymore that when I read it tri-band is what I immediately thought of. I don't believe that Cingular offers any tri-mode phones any longer and even if they did it would almost be a waste. Analog networks will be phased out by all companies (government orders) within the next few years. Cingular's digital coverage is so vast and reliable in most places that you would not have to worry about relying on an analog signal anyway.

Hope this helps. 🙂

A tri mode phone, GSM,TDMA and Analog, isn't gonna help since with the network improvements via merger, they expired all MB(Multiband) plans

The best deal for the money for the migration would the v-180 motorola ,new year renewal will get you the phone for 39.99.
