Do you think Cingular will keep the AT&T Go Phone Service? I have heard that SunCom may be buying these customers through an arrangement with Cingular/ATT?

Just curious, Thanks

I know Cingular stores are not selling any Go Phones. My store is capable of selling the Free to Go minutes refills, but Go phone is completely outside of us. If it stays that way, my guess is that it will go the way of the dodo.

Good, I HATE those calls. you get the most ignorant people that try to activate those. I thought I dealt with a lot of ignorant people when I was in WEX but the go phone customers are REALLY mentally challenged.

I know every go phone call I get is some ignorant fool wanting to know why their phone is off.. Um duh Its called PRE-paid. You paid then you used.. and you used it all so there is no more until you PRE-pay again. Also wanting credit to get their phone turned on for a few minutes just to make it into their unlimited nights and weekends. I like it best when they call in and say.. "yeah I have the TO-GO phone" like it's chinese take out or something.

They always buy the free to go wireless cards and try to activate go phones with them. I have to explain the difference between the two several times a day. And if you ask them what calling plan they want, its like you spoke to them in greek or something and they have no idea what you are talking about. People don't read anything before they buy it. They just go into a store and buy a phone and have no idea how its works or what to do with it, but they know what number they have to call to get it activated.

"i want to activate my to go phone"

What manufacturer is this phone from and what model?

"AT&T to go phone"

ok LG 4015 probably
what calling plan would you like to activate?

"i don't know"

When I used to work in Cell Phone sales, I sold more of these than the Virgin Mobile, but you are right. People who buy these don't realize that a bank account or credit card are required.... And most of the people that buy them can't or don't have a bank account or credit card.

I even had a customer try to activate one with a pre-paid Visa once... didn't work. lol

Yeah I have gotten a few calls myself where they call in to activate a phone and get customer care and they are on their new phone and trying to activate it and I ask them, "What type of phone do you have?" they respond, "AT&T" and then I am like, "No, what MODEL?"..."Nokio" or "Nike" or "Norkria" or etc... Can't call it Nokia can you Mr. Customer, how dyslexic are you again?

"I can understand why you can't decipher the word "NO" as anytime you hear us speak it you escalate and you see the freaking car being advertised, you know, the KIA vehicle!!! Put the 2 together!!! It's not rocket science!!!"

Those customers are not going anywhere. I hate to say it but prepaid is almost %10 of AT&T's base. Also the Go-Phone is not going anywhere. On the Cingular side, its new name is Take-Charge...

Actually, it is not clear when the GoPhone plans are going to be dissolved. But it is known that Cingular is going to adapt a GoPhone type program called "Hybrid". The plans aren't quite as good as GoPhone, but not that bad. You still get nights and weekends but not unlimited and the minutes aren't .10 per minute on a 39.99 plan or higher. They are, if I remember correctly, .15 on 39.99 and goes down from there.

But, technically you aren't bound by anything w/ GoPhone. So if Cingular can change it at any time. And there's not much you could really do about it. Unfortunatelly.
