I was wondering if anyone has a motorola v551 on a at&t rate plan. I just finished ordering one through at&t and was wondering if I would have problems with it on my at&t service. Such as not connecting to the internet and things of that sort.

The Motorola V551 is not compatible with AT&T Wireless system, it's on the Cingular side. You sure you ordered it through AT&T and not Cingular?

I have two v551s I ordered through ATT Premiere a few weeks ago. I haven't had any problems using mMode on either of them.

Yea I did order it through at&t I'm guessing that they had a contract Motorola before the merger for the v551 and the Razr to come out.

actually, AT&T Wireless had special contracts with certain businesses that required that they make available new AT&T Wireless phones, and as a result of that, there are a few, a very few, v551s, MPX220s, Treo 650s, and one or two other devices that we did get a small stock of as AWS phones, but those were available solely for those that we had special contracts with to provide that equipment to.

those phones are available to our business users. I havent seen any consumer accounts with those phones. Just to let you know though, if you have a problem with those phones and your on a consumer account, you better hope the rep doesnt say that there isnt anything that they can do b/c its a Cingular phone. Most reps dont know that a couple of the "Cingular" phones are available to select ATT customers!

While it is true that a few select "cingular" specific phones with cingular logos were made available to certain AT&T Wireless customers, that does not guarantee that all phones of those models are supported on the blue side. the devices that were set aside for use with blue customers also have AWS part numbers on them instead of cingular specific part numbers. The only devices that we can actually support (especially with regards to warranty exchanges) are devices that have actual AWS part numbers. On the blue side, we do not support devices without our part numbers, whether it is an unlocked device from an indirect dealer or an orange specific device from a cingular store that just happens to work with an AWS sim card. It had to be specif...

Care reps can certainly troubleshoot for certain problems, but if it is a warranty related issue and the phone does NOT have an attws part number on it, WEX can NOT exchange it under any circumstances. With the merger, we are seeing more and more customers with phones w/out part numbers. Warranty options on phones w/out an attws part number are... well the only thing to do with the phone is to send it to the manufacturer for repairs. Plain and simple.

I do not think you shoulds have cell service I think it will only cause you unhappiness..I have read a few of your posts since you started looking for phones and service and can see you have been having quite a few problems--mostly the problem is you expect far too much from wireless--I think you should forget the whole thing

What are you talking about? I only expect high standards from at&t and thats what they've given me. They have been a great company since begining and end. They are still offering better things than Cingular while they are operated and owned by them.

The only thing we as a blue rep are offering are good deals to migrate over to cingular.by the way, something people on the blue side of the side fence should be aware.the roam agreement that ATTWs signed expired because of the copany going out of business. That means that where you used to get signal, you may now have problems. Not trying to start a fight, but this advised to us through e-mail and team metting.Thats another reason to switch.

Thats fine, but there a few things that you need to be aware of.since the company ATTWS went out of business that means that you will find more and more that where it used to say other carriers on screen , it won't allow you access to those towers, that since you can't buy a phone anymore on the blue side.

Also you need to be aware that if you want to change your plan, you won't be allowed to, or technically you can but you lose all your "expired legacy" prootions, and nothing to replace unless ...
