I was a blue cust. was told that if I change to the orange side that my service "If you have our tdma service, you can continue to enjoy the network you have come to trust"
Well, three days in to new service and new plan w/ new nokia 3120 my coverage is horrible
Now I spent 7 total hours w/ CSR yest. only to find out the only solution is stay with new service that might get better or reverse migrate to old blue plan until contract is up
my old phone was a nokia 5165 that had coverage in areas that I no have Nada
what's up!!!

Your 5165 is TDMA. Your 3120 is GSM only.

Either there is not as much GSM coverage in your area, or you have a defective phone.

You may want to ask customer care about GAIT plans, which use both networks. Either that, or reverse migrate back to blue tdma.

the only problem there is, old plan at average bill of 200.00 or new plan at 99.00 and they won't release me on contract after a 10 year loyalty, their own terms say that if service is changed majorly, you c 😢 could be released, but their last ditch solution is to reverse migrate only to, in 4 to 5 months to be forced to switch back, "forced migrate" to a service plan that doesn't provide the same great coverage blue used to cover... :cr ☹️ y:

Loyalty has nothing to do with being able to release you without a penatly, actually come to think about it Loyalty really means nothing with any company. A restuarant won't give you discounts or deals becuase you keep eating there. Your cable company is the same way.

Any customer who spends a year with a company has loyalty compared to someone who has spent 10 years.

What will get you loyalty is higher priced plans. Somebody who is on a $29.99 plan isn't going to get much sympathy from a company and reps are just doing their jobs offering what they can.

The only way you can be forced onto Cingular is if the company specifically tells you, "We are force migrating you."

Losing service on Digital is not the companies fault, other ...

I'm not trying to fight with you, just been reading your posts, i work for blue care. The releasing you from your contract has nothing to do about your reception. The perception of what you believe "service" is and what the carriers believe to do...

I'm amazed by all the opinions, my case in point is that if 3 CSR's w/ orange tell you that the service and coverage won't change one week, so you are told the migration should not change your service, add you upgrade only to find that the the next week when you recieve your new phone and plan, the service is totally different, isn't that a little misleading. FYI, Loyalty might be the wrong word, but a company that misleads w/ half truths many BLUE customers to change only to find out that the new service is total different, is Wrong or just bad training!!!
Just remember, as of 12 days ago when I was a Blue Cust. I wasn't aware of all the problems
that orange has created, you would have thought that orange would have had the GSM complete ...

Well a rep. can see what the area looks like with towers but because they don't live there, they have no idea what the service is like only what it looks like.

The information may be missleading but you never know until you use the phone or get opions from other people PLUS you have the 30 days to return if it doesn't work out.

I'd go for a nokia 6340i, gsit phone to pick up tdma and gsm, that gives you the best of both worlds.

I have two 3120's. It's a good phone, but you have a network issue that no phone is going to fix. Switch back if you can or go check out Verizon. Do what works for you. Loyalty is a thing of the past this day and age.

p.s. Verizon has a shorter probation window, excellent coverage, but a horrible phone selection. Verizon's 6015i would be similar to your 3120. Good luck.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend a good GSM phone as I have no real experience with the GSM phones, I only have experience with Digital. I can see others have assisted though.

I'M GLAD TO HEAR YOU WORK FOR BLUE, but my problem is not with BLue, it's w/ the misleading statements w/ orange, My major question is shouldn't orange have had the GSM network total up and running in all areas that I received coverage when I was a Blue Cust. before telling blue customers that the switch to orange would be simless???

True, but as they say "Rome wasn't built in a day." As for the Cingular reps, they only know as much as they are told. If they don't live in your exact area, they have no way of knowing what the coverage is like. According to the maps we have great coverage in California, but according to the customers, digital is the best way to go especially along the coast....
