Just to Clear Up Any Misconceptions
AT&T wireless (now called Cingular Blue) is still selling phones, adding new lines of service, and setting up brand new accounts. The only catch is that these customers have to be on a business plan (on a Foundaiton Account Number) or have a sponsership account number, this is where the account is in the consumer's name but they get the company discount. If the customer has a business account that is not on a Foundation Account Number, they can add new lines, upgrade phones, and migrate service to GSM (they just cannot start new service on a brand new account). These customers do not have to migrate to Cingular!!! I get calls too often from customers complaining that they went to the store, or called...

and that is why in those situations, I will refer customers to NBO, or if it is outside of NBO's relatively short hours, I will refer to BEUC when it is a business and/or FAN account. Unlike regular consumers, most of them actually have special contracts that say we have to provide blue equipment. It makes my job easier to be able to do that. A lot of regular consumers get mad when I can't get them to anyone who can get them blue equipment, but those dwindling supplies are (in many cases) not being replenished, so we have to save them for the people that we are bound to provide that stuff to.
