In Halifax we are getting our schedules changed in mid June. About a month ago some people were shifted to days. At that time I was still in universty, now that it is the summer, I'm stuck on horrible shifts for now.

Yeah...well...I've got seniority on a large part of my center, but even though I've been here a year and a half, because I'm WEX res, I have a snowball's chance in Hell at getting a decent schedule. Every other department here is closing earlier by at least an hour so they let me go at 11:15 instead of 11:30. Convergys is fan-freakin-tastic.

How nice of them... They care so much about their employees 🙂

Ouch, I'm sorry. If it makes ya feel any better I came in 45 mintues before I was supposed to be here because it's impossible for them to give me a consistent schedule.

Yeah it seems like the company is pretty much the same from centre to centre. How bad is the turnover rate for employees there? We hire about 25 a week, which makes 1300 a year. This is a minimum as sometimes there are more then two new hire classes at once (morning and night). In a centre with 2000 employees they must have to think that something is not right....

always hiring here too! at least 1 training class per week-now hiring in orange and blue! aren't we lucky? 🤣

6 weeks of training of 25 people per week at $8.5 an hour here, plus training materials and paying instructor. hmmm. It adds up really quickly. If they paid people $1-2 more an hour, or were nicer to employees perhaps they could hire less people and things would balance out cost wise. Plus maitain good and tenured reps, meaning better service and more money from customers.
But hey, I'm not running the place.

hey when i stated in july of last year i stated at 9.50/hr and then when i finished my 6 wks i went up to 10.50/hr then once i got my hrs min i went up to 10.82/hr then they have the shift preferenceing coming up and who knows what will happen at that time and thats just in welland. i know from hearing from other groups they are like wave 70 or so and i was wave 49 that is a shocker w/i a yr i do know there will be a lot of changes coming up around preferencing time imn july alot of people may qwuit becasue the shift they get if you catch my drift 😉

Here in Halifax we start at $8.5 then go to $9.5 after training. So we are $1 behind you.

We start at $7.5 and after training we go to $8. It's mostly due to the Chamber of Commerce here though because the other Convergys centers pay better. Then again, ALL the Convergys centers pay better because Clarksville is the lowest paid center worldwide.

S**t man that really sucks! Is the cost of living there less than most places or is it just the company that sucks? 😕

Ouch, $10.24/hr. here, but hopefully I can grab one of those higher paying jobs.

Such as the a job from the CANADIAN company Sasktel which is paying it's CANADIAN employees better wages then what is being filtered through this company here.

Unfortunately I learned my resume was printed once so now I am out one job and now have reduced chances at the other. This is also further reduced because my sister passed it on to my cousin who may or may not of even handed it in.

Well they haven't been hiring too much here lately. Our departments keep switching so often they can't start a training class because one week before they're supposed to go out on the floor, their job changes. Right now this center handles Blue and Orange C&A, Orange XBM (warranty exchange), Orange Care, Blue and Orange Wex Res (which is one department), COFR (change of financial responsibility) and FST (fulfillment team). They just started Care so they're retraining some of the existing reps and they're starting a couple training classes. Most of our turnover actually happens during training though. We can start with a 30 person class and lose 20 of them by the end of the second week.

I do agree with you there 🤣

Yeah we do have a significant turnover during training or about 1-2 weeks into taking calls. This should also be looked at. People do this: a) because training is easy money, perhaps it shouldnt be organized like it is.
b) you are not prepared to handle most issues before being put on the phone.
But meh.. whatever works for them.
Here we have been told that we will not be trained on Cingular orange anytime soon. We may be the last centre left to deal with the blue side.

I'll be ecstatic when we don't have to handle Blue calls anymore because that means India will be gone. I'd do a happy dance, but as a white male I have no rhythm and would probably end up hurting myself, those around me, and find someway to eliminate a third-world country in the process. So instead I'll just smile really big and give a thumbs up. 🤣

Well now that's certainly a plus. The only way I'll ever get an earlier schedule is if almost everyone from CRT leaves. I've been here a while, but everyone else has been here longer. That and there's only 22 of us, so there's not a lot of leeway in scheduling.
