Calls are slow and I am bored. How is everyone else's night going?

I'm sick, my throat hurts and I MIGHT have enough gas to get home from work tonight, but other than that I'm hunky-friggin-dory. 🤣

hope you do have enough gas. I just hope my bf's car starts when we get in it to drive home. He has been having problems with his alternator and it's been messing up his battery and there is no gurantee it will start *crosses fingers* PS I know next to nothing about cars.

Yeah, the alternator isn't fun. I hate replacing them and they're no fun when they give you problems. I'm wishing you the best.

Well, he just replaced the battery and the starter about a month ago. Says if he has to put another $300 in to replace the alternator, he wants to sell the car calling it a "money pit" Precisley why I dont drive. Car, insurance, upkeep and repairs= too much. I will be happy taking the loser cruiser as he calls it or the big white limousine as I like to call it. LOL.

Ouch, he shouldn't be paying $300 for an alternator.

Wait I paid $300.00 Canadian for a new alternator on a Chev Cavalier Z24 1994. Was that too much?

I don't know how much the price changes once the part is shipped across the border but I could probably get one for not more than $25 US. Then again I've got a lot of friends who are/were mechanics and I know where the good junkyards are.

Yeah I am going to hit junkyards from now on, there is a nice on eon the outskirts of our city. Great place to grab FREE fuses too. They allow you to go out to the rows of cars and just grab what you want then you come back through the building and pay.

I had a window smashed one day, hit there, got a new window for like $10.00 and then got it installed for like $15.00. All within 2 hours of finding the broken window!!!

We've got a place about 30 minutes from here that charges $1 to come in and they have set prices for parts, not make/model specific. I love that. I can get a hood for an '83 Ford Ranger for the same price as a hood for an '04 Cadillac Escalade.*

[bows deeply] It's American wit. You Canadians would've never thought of something that clever. 🤣 How long you think it is before we start the Canada vs. America debate again?

My team, I don't think they like me too much, I am glad though I got a shift (almost missed the f key there) change.

Hmmm, I paid 100.00 US for my whole '89 Z24 so... maybe? 🤣 (Of course, I then spent a whole lot more money getting it to work right, but that's a whole 'nother story!)

Don't be too mad--it wasn't running when I got it, I've spent about 2K US getting it up to speed, transaxle rebuild and reseal, new clutch, brakes, struts, tie rod ends and bearings, fuel pump, oil pump, exhaust work, radiator fan motor, wiper motor, miscellaneous this 'n that, and I need a new passenger side door--got quoted 125.00 for that and just can't bring myself to pay more for the door than I did for the whole car! It's a work in progress, but I dig the car--it's fun and darned fast! That little 2.8L V6 is torquey as all get out...
