I just started mornings, and I am wondering if the cracked, puffy soreness in my eyes goes away after a few days?
Maybe I'll pick up acaffeine addiction to nurse my hurting nicotine withdrawals.

Can't help you there, the latest start time I've had in the past ten years is 0700, and I prefer earlier... It's sick, but I really like mornings and hate traffic! 😉
...
I love morning because I'm done at 3:15 at the latest. I still have half the day to do stuff.

My point exactly, and the customers are a LOT quieter and less mean in the early AM as well. I've put in overtime during the afternoon shift and those people SUCK! ...and not in a good way... 😲
...
that's true. once the dregs of society wake up the day goes downhill.

Yesssss! Free of the treachery that is the afternoon. Now, instead of a queue when I get to work, I get a queue for my last 30 minutes 😁
...
what are you talking about? There's queue all the time not just the last 30 mins of the morning shift! 😎
...
yeah but the trade off for me is up at 5am-530 am and i can catch a bus at 6 am and be here 25 mins early or 6:30 and be 5 min late everyday, when 1/2 hr of laying in bed would cure a lot of body aches and mind numbness 😁
...
I'd have to vouch for quiet queues in the early am... I start at 10pm and end at 6:30, and I'd have to say that between 3am and 6:30 I take maybe.. MAYBE 4-6 calls... I take about 25 calls during my whole shift. Last night I went from 5:20 until 6:25am before I got a call, and when I did it was a dial tone.
Also, I love the graveyard shift because after work I get to have all my appointments as soon as things open. No waiting 1hour+ for my doctor. I'm the first one in and the first one looked at, and when I get out the waiting room is packed. Same goes for my chiropractor, dentist, credit union, and bank. When I do groceries the vegetables are at their absolute freshest, all the sale items are still in stock, and I avoid dumb people stan...

See, this is why I love it, too! I get off at 6:30 at the latest, so the hottest, busiest part of the evening is mine, all mine!

Well, I like mornings, too. Don't get me wrong; recreational bitching is my favorite pastime. But still, I haven't gone to bed before 3 AM since October, and now I actually have to force myself to bed. Last night that endeavor was not so successful. Between my love and Civilization 3, I was too busy to sleep. So now, I pay the price, and by posting here, I'm taking you all with me. 😈

I've been working the 5am shift for like a month now, it hasen't gone away for me yet! Naps help! 🙂
...
That sounds smashing. I think I'm-a gonna have a nap right now! 😎

I have to agree, the afternoon nap is a delightful and useful addition to the schedule of any early AM worker. I get home usually around 1500 or so, then I'll do housework and eat dinner, and if I feel like going out later, it's an hour or so nap--with that I can get home around 2300-2400 and still not be dead in the water to make it to work by 0600. If I'm not going out I still like taking a nap, just because it feels so good. I think 21st century life is too rushed, harried and stressful and people try to cram too much into too little time. It's good to slow down and do things to improve the interior quality of life--I've found that very few things are really SO important that it's necessary to take care of them RIGHT NOW! Smell the rose...

Naps are a must. I don't have time to have naps afterwork anymore though. I'm counting the days until I burn out.

I take naps a lot too, I work the 4am to 12 noon shift, which sounds bad at first but then you get used to it and it is great getting off work at 12 noon everyday 🙂 If I am going to go out and do something I will take a nap for about a hour, so that I am good to go for a later evening.
