Is there a trick to get the Cingular V400 to work properly on AT&T?

Someone please help here... I purchassed a V400 and love the phone. The signal rocks, the features are awesome, the ringers suck, but that's a different issue.

The problem I have is with recieving calls. It will recieve maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 calls to the phone and also, sometimes takes the better part if not a whole day to let you know you have voice mail too.

Is there something I am missing? Someone please help here, the clock is ticking to when I can take the phone back. Thank you guys!

try this,
press the menu key, and choose the settings option.
once u do that, select other settings.
then, select the master reset option, and that should be the solution.
if not, remove the battery, and put it back in.

So, you ended up with the V400 WA2FAST? 🙂 You gave up on waiting for the V600...I'm doing the same thing. What made you go with the unlocked cingular v400 over the unlocked t-mobile v300? Was it the quad-band? I'd prefer quad-band, but I really like the rubber coating on the v300.

Haha fongoddess... if this phone works out, then yes, I might just get one for myself, it's truely an awesome phone. I am still kind of holding out for the V600... only because I know that the second I get a different phone, 31 days later (just after the return date), it will come out. That's just my luck. 😉 You know what? I never even looked at the V300... the quad band I could care less about unless it affects AT&T's band... but I don't think it does.

If I do a master reset with the SIM in the phone... is that going to screw the sim up? This is key. I obviously don't want to wipe the sim out.

Regarding the master reset issue, the thing is that this procedure doesn't affect any of your contacts at all. May be u would be erasing pictures, i am not sure of that. But if u want to delete your contacts, the master clear option is the right one.

Master reset clears all settings on the phone back to the original state (including contacts stored ON the phone). You're SIM card is left untouched as it is not part of the original phone settings.

Seriously, do you really WORK for Motorola? If so, I stand by my statement that Motorola is one of the worst phone manufacturers. You being an employee lacking quality training is proof in itself!

I made a post asking you to stick to Motorola questions. I take that back now... just don't try to help anyone anymore.

First off, the V400 was designed exclusively for the Cingular network by Motorola... it doesn't play well with others! Secondly, not my favorite phone out there. Thirdly... some of the initial shipment of V400's had firmware issues, have your rep check to make sure its not one of that shipment... they should have the lot numbers of them available
