according to this news article,

"The company is also allowing customers with GSM phones to automatically roam onto other companies' networks in their home cities at no extra charge. This could help users who run into dead spots with no AT&T Wireless coverage but a Cingular or T-Mobile USA tower"

i saw that we(cingular) are doing that in the boston area right now...but havent heard anything else yet....

where I live in north jersey, its really needed for cingular.. (full of dead spots, that AT&T has all covered..)

ATTWS has announced expanded roaming in several east coast markets. I just nticed this morning that I am switching to Cingular in some areas in the central VA area.

is that a 2 way thing, I live in NJ,(and have Cingular) could I roam on AT&T? (in my home area)

Sorta like the same thing AWS did when digital first came out. Right now, if you are on digital it is possible in some areas to be on a local plan, be roaming and it still be part of the home calling area.

Bottom line....study your coverage map for the plan you are on. Pick one up in a store or view it online.
