Confusion on AT&T CC decision
Please help me understand this...
I called 3 weeks ago and ordered the new Motorola v600 with a new contract. At the time of the purchase, I was approved for 2 lines and was asked if I wanted to open 2 lines. I only opened 1 line and got the v600 for $199.99. I recently got a letter in the mail from AT&T wireless and they decided to change their mind on me and require that I pay a deposit for the 1 line that I just opened. Why would they do this after I've already activated my phone and started using service, and is there anything I can do to cancel if I'm required to pay the deposit? If I do decide to cancel, what would be the consequences? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I may be wrong but i've had a few cust's have this letter too. But it turned out to be if they ended up wanting the 2nd line. I may be wrong since i cant see the letter. But that may be it ;)

I've been told that by NAS before, that it's if you want a 2nd line a deposit is required. Your best bet is to call customer care and have them look at your account to see if there is a deposit requirement..

If you do have to pay the deposit on line 1 you can get out of service under your 30 days buyers remorse period

Yes but it will take 4 -6 weeks to get deposit back minuus billing charges

i get these calls all the time (especially given i work in the sales support group, heh).
so yes, it's if the customer decides to order an additional line of service as we do not ship out the phones if there is a deposit until the deposit has been paid. the letters do need to have the wording changed to better reflect that. *sigh*

A lot of cust's get the letter and it is very confusing but it usually is referring to adding a line-I called new account services on it one time and they advised me it has something to do with AWS being required to send something to a cust whenever they have processed a credit check-what this guy needs to do is contact NAS or RM and they will be able to give him the score
