I have been with ATT in Las Vegas for 7 years. Over the past year I have not been able to use the cell in my home (TDMA) nor could any ATT user. Cingular worked fine.T Mobile was fine. Verizon was spotty. Im wondering if now that Im off contract and can switch carriers whether or not the Cingular/Att deal will help.

I am looking at T Mobile seriously.

Verizon is not on my list. (too expensive and since I travel a lot and am in AC NJ right now)
A few of my cohorts who have Verizon cannot get easy signals here. T Mobile users here seem to get signals where all others fail though.

But mostly Im in LAs Vegas and I know this differs from coast to coast. I like ATT but the empty promises of service have got to me. If the deal does not go...

For Atlantic City coverage
Cingular #1
Verizon #2

For Las Vegas Coverage
VZW,ATT,Cingular tied for #1 as far as I can tell.

If those are the only ones you need then you may want to look at cingular. Make sure you read the cust agree though. The contract terms should be a BIG part of any cellphone purchase decision.

Find the company/plan/phone that is right for you. I'm happy with Verizon, myself.

TMobile currently uses Cingular's Nevada/California network, so if TMo does well, so will Cingular. If its a choice between TMo and Cingular, I'd have to go with Cingular... their Nation GSM plan is awesome.

YEah I suppose Cingular is the choice as they and ATT will be one soon....Im afraid T mobile may have issues in the west if that deal goes through as expected........

That's what I thought, but the article states Cingular is selling off some spectrum in that area to TMo (10 Mhz in select markets)...

bleh, they probably HAD to in order to cease roaming agreements (probably something they had arranged ahead of time so TMo didn't end up getting screwed).

Nextel has rock solid coverage in Vegas and the entire east coast.

Rock solid coverage of the Mirage, Bellagio, and MGM Grand maybe...

BTW: Nextel's Vegas Footprint is shaped like Elvis' Face. No lie! It looks like the King is kissing the Arizona boarder on my coverage map.

Coverage is one thing...quality of coverage is another thing altogether. Making and completing calls here in South Florida is a chore.
