ATT does not seem to want renewals!

So I go into an ATT store today to renew my contract and get a V600...(Really want the V400)

They tell me my promotional 200 minutes (650) total for 39.99 will dissappear and I will have to pay $300 for the phone!!!!

SO I figure since ATT and Cingular are using the same network I can get 450 roll over and the V400 and keep my number by switching to Cingular .The V600 is less money there as well! But I would rather buy a Jabra BT system as an option if I need it and I can use it for future non BT phones as well.

I did not think ATT was so quick to lose a seven year customer, but I guess they are doing well.

Its no wonder ATT took the biggest hit from number portability losses.............

Well, the sales rep you spoke with must have been mistaken.

You would not have lost your 200 bonus minutes what-so-ever. The phone would still be $299.99 or even $249.99 in some markets.

Sorry that had to happen...and that you got that impression of AT&T

most likely he wanted to save the "hot phones" for new customers so he can juice out the most commission. Eh?

Possible, but unlikely too...we don't make commission on the "phones" themselves...

Or there'es another possibility here, if kingfrog was on say a TDMA local 39.99 and had 650 mins and was going to say a GSM America National 39.99 he would only end up with 450 minutes. I don't know about the price of the phone but that could explain the plan.

I am TDMA National at 39.99....I got 200 minutes added when I renewed Last year and they tried to get me to switch to GSM then. But i did not think their newrk in that area was big enough so I stayed with TDMA becasue I travel a lot and switch to ONE RAte 99.000 for months at a time. When I get home I swtich back to National. Never regional.

I was in the ATT store and the rep there told me I had to call Cust Service, Cust Service told me I would lose the 200 minutes switching to GSM AND the phone would cost $300!!!

So I went to Cingular (here in AC) and the same V600 was $50 less (But I'd rather have the V400 at $150 less than ATT price for the V600...same plan National 450 plus roll over which is good because I don't use a lot of any...

Maybe there s a number for a manager at Custumor service. i know most phone reps may not be knowledgable, lazy (or maybe even in India).

There does seem to be a difference in the quality of service one gets from a phone rep. I have stayed with ATT because of the service. It has always been good and the reps have bent over backwards to help. I have NEVER hung up dissatisfied...until today. Maybe the customer center has switched to Cingular as well, I don't know, but the only arrogance I have sensed from a service before today was Verizon...All the Verizon kiosks and stores I have visited had the same "we are the best" take it or leave it attitude.

Verizon claims nation wide best coverage yet my cohorts here in Atlantic City from LA ar...

If it's about the minutes, forget it, you know what they'll tell you to do, go on a GSM local plan, and the phone price isn't li kely to chnage either, at least not for a phone that was released so recently.

No, but a prospective customer is more likely to buy service when the phone he wants is available.

The rep you spoke with definitely wasn't concerned about your needs. In dealing with all my customers, they all get a fair shot at discount pricing. The system has always been just a guideline, if it comes down to it, and there is a situation where I am face-to-face in losing a seven-year HV customer, I would gladly offer a larger discount for equipment on a two year agreement. I apologize as well that you were the victim of poor treatment.
