I have a question to ask, you seem to have an "inside" on carriers and I respect your opinion.
I know you have head me talk about this in the past on different forums.
It's been in our local papers(in writing) that ATTWS is coming to Gainesville, Fl.(32614) in the beginning of 2004. And not only that, USCellular has said that ATTWS has taken them over here.
Why is it, that when I call ATTWS customer service, or send them emails, they play dumb on this issue? What is the big deal? Why can't they just come out and say, " Yes, we will becoming to your area"?
I have been using ATTWS in the area mentioned above 16 months now, using their TDMA service, and it works great.
I have asked this on the ATTWS. carrier website but they wouldn't "spi...

its not that we are trying to hide anything from you, its that we honestly dont know. they dont seem to think it is important to tell reps when we are gaining service in any areas. we have not got a clue about any mergers or buyouts, until they are done and we are talking to the new customers who tell us. i am sorry this ordeal has been so frustrating to you, hopefully you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel since we will be apparently offering service in your area. but please be a little patient with customer care as they dont tell us these things, so we honestly dont know. 😕

Pumpkin is right. What I do know is that all the new maps show that the pan handle of FL is part of the National coverage now on TDMA. The best thing to do is just hang on and know that it is coming.

Is it me or is the number port the best thing to happen to our industry but terrible turn around time. ALL carriers, not just one exclusively are just ridiculous of letting customers number go to be ported period. I have a few dozen customers since November 24 that ported their number and it still hasn't gone through. And now they are telling us dealers too tell customers it could take up to 2 weeks too go through!!!! Thats a joke Best of luck to everyone..

You are totally correct it is getting a little out of hand. If I were you I would call your customer care and have them look into it. What I have been doing is calling our PAG team (Porting Administration Group) and they am usually push it through. I would expect a wait though. From experience pag has been able to push them through every time. If you get a rep who is not willing to call escalate to res and have them call. There is a number for att customers to call externally but I don't have it with me now as I am not at work.

Sometimes ir's really funny how you get accused of "conspiracy" against customers and all of that. But the PAG external # is 1 (800) 241-0558. Be prepared for a loooooong hold time, though. Fastest I've gotten through is 45 mins. Longest over 1 and 1/2 hours (Cust just hung up)

hey Chapperal, I see your problem is still not resolved, but in reading your posts you seem to be a little confused. You see, customer service reps, at least at ATTWS, we don't usually know about the decisions from upstairs until the day, or in some case up to a week after, the policy or change has been made. They really don't tell us anything in CS until it has already happened. So please don't think that we all have this specific date and we are just not telling you, cause that is just not the case. But if you do want an definite answer to this question you are going to have to start asking more important people in attws than the Customer Care Reps, we are just phone monkeys, we don't make the decisions, we just tell them to you

You are one of the few people who has the answers to most of the questions in these forums. And I don't think of you as a "phone monkey", but I do appreciate your honesty.
Thanks for your response. 🙂
