Hi,
I'm going to university and need to choose between the GSM national and local plans. I've heard that a bunch of people keep their old phones, so I'd have to dial long distance to phone them even when they are in the same town.
Im a little confused with the ATT WS site and would like to know the difference between these two plans.
With the local would I have to pay long distance charges? If not, with the national I wouldn't?
And what's with the unlimited mobile to mobile minutes? Only free when I talk to someone else on ATT?
Thanks for your help.

NATIONAL, NATIONAL NATIONAL
...
u mean only national has no long distance fees?
...
no but you dont gain any minutes by having a local plan or anything, I really dont know why we still have them...

the difference is coverage and that is it, the e317 has not been released to the best of my knowledge
...

I thought with the national plan you can call anyone in the US and not pay any long distance charges
thanks
...

Do you have any credit established in the US? My wife had a friend in grad school from Canada, with great Canadian credit, but no US credit, and she had to pay a deposit.
...
no, I don't, hope I won't have to
...
to try and answer some of your questions..
local and national plans= local has a smaller coverage area, national is the whole usa ( good for people who travel)
there is no long distance charge for either local or national as long as you are in your coverage area, local is usualy as long as your in the state you set up service with.
with a local plan you do get More minutes than the national plan with the same price
mobile -2- mobile minutes are used when you are in your coverage area and make a call to someone else who has at&t service too
hope that helps a little

You are getting LD and roaming mixed up. Both the Local and the NAtional plans have no LD charges as long as you are in the calling area and calling one of the 50 states (national plan also includes PR and US Virgin islands). How ever if you are going to university a few states away from your HCA then you will need the national plan so you don't get charged roaming. If your University is in the Local calling area then stay with local as it gives you much more minutes. Call Customer care and ask if your University is in the local calling area.

or just look at a map.......
Sorry couldn't resist that
