attws-cingular merge...timeframe and network usage?
When ATTWS and Cingular finally get their ducks in a row (which will be when?...), what's the likelihood of us weary ATTWS customers getting access to the super-duper Cingular network and signal strength?
I ask because if it'll all happen soon, then I probably will not switch to Cingular. I would expect that they could set up the network access sharing issues behind the scenes and well in advance of actually doing the customer account switchovers and plan adjustments, etc.
Thanks!
Gary

we were told that the merger is suppose to go through sometime in December. maybe a little later though. I think there are still a few things to do in regards with the FCC. As far as coverage is concerned, AT&T wireless has the biggest network for GSM, that is why Cingular wanted to merge with us. If you look at their website versus ours , you will see that their coverage isnt' as broad as ours. Our plans that we have in GSM already have agreements with Cingular as well as Tmobile , that our customers can use their phones and not get any extra roaming charges ( depending on the calling plan you have). Hopefully that will help you out

According to info here at Cingular, the deal should close between October and December. We are not allowed to do ANYTHING with the network until the FCC and Dept. Of Justice let us do so. We estimate everything should be in place to bring the two networks together within 60 days of closing.

Does this merger include Edge Wireless? I have been out of info loop for a while. Edge services the company I work for.

Not that I am aware of.
