Seeking Advice on choosing a carrier for Metro NY

I'm looking to sign up with a carrier. I live and work in the New York City metropolitan area. 99% of calls will be made in and around the 5 boroughs of NYC, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey. I'm currently with ATT; my wife is now with Verizon. We intend to go with a family plan. We don't need the best phones, but want good quality. My wife wants a camera phone.

Which carrier should we go with? We went to dealers today at ATT, Verizon and Cingular. Cingular seems to have the best deal, and Verizon seems to have the worst deal. For $70/month: 850 anytime rollover minutes on a nationwide basis; unlimited free mobile to mobile (I assume this includes both Cingular and ATT, once the merger goes through); Unlimited nights after...

Actually in your NYC market, you can get $59.99 sharable plan ,for local you canget 750 included minutes and 500 additinalanytime minutes, plus unlimited att to att mobile to mobile on the ATT network, and nightsand weekends at 7pm or the national 59.99-800 included minutes and 300 additionalanytime minutes plus the obile to mobiel and 7pm nights and weekends

Well you have verizon and AWS so if your getting compariable service on both the AWS plans are a lot better as you've seen. The system will not be overloaded that dealer was just blowing smoke out his...The towers are not over loaded right now and its not like cingular is going to pay 41 billion dollars just to shut down all of AWS's towers. At worst nothing will change in the areas you go to but most likely they will now use both cingular and AWS towers so it will get better. They say that both carriers share towers right now but they don't uses the towers equally. AWS's phones will attempt to connect to an AWS tower first and only if it can't find one will it switch to Cingular's network. Cingular and AWS have close to the same phones...
