How long will TDMA last?
I've got a couple of older family members that have been with Cingular for 4-5 years and have never upgraded to GSM. How much lead time will they get if/when this is about to happen?
Thanks

Now, if I can get my friend to stop calling and bitching about the crappy service he's been getting since going over from Cingular TDMA to Cingular GSM...
probobly a few more years before the towers start to be "turned off" to TDMA, but analog will be gone in the next 6 to 9 mnonths from what i heard. All new towers going up will be GSM, no more TDMA expansion, just so you know.

things will only get better for GSM from here on out. esp. after the ATTW acqusition is official.

the drama queen rarely as anything to say except how his "friends" are griping about Cingular. well, drama, have your friends post. hopefully they are smarter than you. But honestly, that seems to be where alot of VZW employees get their info about the competition. From a friend... or a friend of a friend who knew a guy who once had bad service. 🙄
I'm just wondering if coverage will get stronger. I have been on a gsm plan for a few months now and it seems I run out of signal more than I used to while driving around. May be the phone (motorola t720) or the towers, or both?
thanx
The cingular gsm map is current but will be larger when attws gets added.
What did you mean by the spacing issue? I don't know how to ask it, but mabye GSM doesn't radiate as far as well as TDMA? You have more capability on GSM, but that compromises the signal somewhat?
Thanks for the input.
