Policy Question

I have a moto that is out of contract and every Cingular corporate store in town refuses to provide me with the unlock code for the device. What exactly is Cingular's policy on phone unlocking and where can I find a hard copy of this policy? I know the policy at T-mobile is 90 days, and I thought Cingular's was once the phone is out of contract or, if bought a full retail price, immediately. I just don’t understand why Cingular reps give me a puzzled look and act like I'm asking for a hit man when I ask for these codes. All I ever hear is "No, Cingular doesn’t give unlock codes. Do it yourself" ☹️ . I know knowledgeable reps exist, so please guide me to a hardcopy of this policy. I need some evidence for my next battle at my Cingular co...

Even if the stores wanted to doubt you I highly doubt they just have a list of unlock codes. Your better off calling CS.

You are right about cingulars unlocking policies but unfortunatly alor of store dont know them because it has to be handled by Customer Service. Just give customer service a call and request the code and it will be emailed to you about a week later.

Cingular's policy is that you must request the code from Customer Service. It is forwarded to Tier II tech support and can take up to 10 business days.
Stores cannot process this request in-house. I do process it for my customers who need the codes but it is simply putting them on the phone with said department.
