Debating... VZW or CINGULAR
I have vzw right now paired with the LG enV $59.99 plan. I live in the Port Angeles, WA area. I am still in my contract with vzw for another ~year. I quite possibly have a buyer for my enV for the price of $175 which would pay for an ETF.
I am happy with Verizon, I just am tired of the cdma phones & the UI. Whats stopping me from jumping ship and coming to cingular/at&t is I have read articles that Vzw has better customer service & overall is a better company(Consumer Reports 2006. In addition as of right now Cingular has some pretty cool phones but it sounds like more are on the way, such as the iphone.
So if someone can help steer my decision to what I should do, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I say try them out for 30 days and see if they work for you. The fanboys will say whatever they want but you will have to be the one to make the ultimate decision. Listening to the guys in the forum and consumer reports, I left Cingular and went to VZ but it only lasted 6 months and I came back to Cingular (better coverage in my area and never had any issues with cs). Cingular has worked better for me in almost every aspect. While VZ is currently the better financially performing wireless comnpany, it might not be the best for you. Give Cingy a try, if they suck in your area, cancel and stick with VZ.

I would have to agree, I have worked for both company, both have great coverage depending on your area, vz may work better in some spots and cin in other as far as cs both have there ups and downs if you are in a contract w/vz act in cin w a new # if after your trial you decide you want to change then port your number into the device you are using if your not happy cancel cingy w/in the trial period and nothing lost. I will say when you go to cingy go to a corp. store and not an agent as some agents have other fees for cancelling w/in the trial period. good luck

depends on your outlook...the foundation of the U.S. is based on small businesses so by going to an authorized agent..you will be spending the same amount of money, usually get more personallized assistance(granted your experience will vary anywhere you go...COR or Agent) and in doing this you are providing valuable business for a respectable small business owner.

Your coverage should be good in that area, but 2 words of caution: You may occasionally roam off Rogers in Victoria, and you'll have lousy coverage if you go up into the Olympics at all (but I wouldn't imagine VZW has good coverage up there either). I ran into both problems last time I was out there, and it was a little annoying. But damn, what a gorgeous area!

One thing to remember is that you do not get access to cingulars entire nationwide network woth the go phone. The coverage map on a pay as you go plan is about half the size as what you would get on an actual rate plan because you do not get access to our roaming partners. You will get a better idea of you coverage if you just use the 30 day trial period.

Coverage in your area could be an issue for both carriers. I have used both on the peninsula and it seems that both have areas of strength.
If you travel along US101 from Lake Crescent to Sequim Cingular is the better choice. In town it doesn't matter. In some of the river valleys like the Hoh and the Soleduck Verizon is a better choice. HWY 101 has relatively good coverage for both, but in places VZW drops to analog or has holes. Cingular seems to not have the holes but has less coverage in the park.
Cingular CS is not bad at all. Consumers Union seems to give an edge to Verizon, but the funny thing is they don't do actual network tests anymore so they have data coming from subscribers who have been recommended to buy Verizon for 5 year...

I would never trust consumer reports for ANY opinion, try talking to people you know with Cingular, and try the 30 trail.
Verizon is defenetly a good service, though i agree about the cdma and phone selection. if it works well with cingular then i'd say stay with them, if not verizon is always willing to take you back.

I think I might just have to do the 30day trial and get the blackjack or maybe that w810? I like the samsung because of the full keyboard and pda windows mobile... I like the w810 because of the battery life plus its gotten good phonescoop reviews? ANYWAYS I am going to sell my enV for $250 and I have a D807 I am going to sell for $75 so that leaves me with $325-$175(vzw etf)-$36 (new act)-$199 (for blackjack before rebate)= -$85 out of pocket expense. I think I might go with the $39.99 price plan and $40unlim data and the $10 txt package?? Any additional advice is always welcome.
