so i was looking on the cingular website and i saw the starting prices of the iphone (like 500 dollars) will that be the final price or will there be instant and mail in rebates to make the price go down a little? I mean put aside how good looking the phone is, it dosnt do anything that special and i really dont think alot of people have that much money to throw away on a phone, so really whom is this phone marketed towards...paris hilton?

People paid nearly that much for the RAZR when it first came out. The price will come down. When is the question.

yeaa. but i suppose when you think about it, a 4 gig nano is what.. 250$ ? then a good quality phone goes for about 200$ so when thinking like that, i guess the price isnt all that bad. still i certainly dont have 500 dollars for a phone. ill stick with my w810 for awhile.

I think you would be very surprised at the amount of money people have, and are willing to throw at things like this.

People who are loyal to Apple products will buy it (and that group is including more and more people each year). Apple customers routinely spend more money for things with the Apple name b/c they are extremely loyal. Thats why they will spend $1500 for a mid-line imac desktop when they could get a top of the line pc desktop for that price or get a mid-line desktop for half that price.

the $500-ish prices are after all rebates... the phone is (will be) way expensive.

As of right now almost everything is rumor. Anything can change between now and the release. I expect a $500 price at the time of release and I don't expect it to go down. From what Cingular has told us that is after rebate. Anything else as far as free plans and additional offers is rumor.
