GO phone problems in Phoenix, AZ

I've been with Cingular for over a year. I have had nothing but complaints from people I'm talking with that the reception from my phone is horrible (Moto flip phone). OK, I got a Sony Ericsson Z300a a couple of weeks and things are worse than ever. The phone's buttons aren't that responsive, I have to keep pressing them over and over again, or they just don't respond and I have to turn the phone off and then back on. The reception is horrible and my calls are constantly getting dropped. I like the GO phone pay-as-you-go concept because I don't use a lot of talk minutes (but do text a lot). I want to take the phone back and get something better. I need advice on a phone. I just want a basic phone, don't need music, video, or camera. I just w...

Any GSM phone will work, but be careful when buying. A Moto flip phone doesn't tell me much. A SE Z300a is the problem with that one, that phone blows no matter what it's on. Try a Nokia 6010. I know wal-mart has them packaged for go phones.

I'm in Tucson so I frequent Phoenix a lot and was just up there for the past two weeks actually. My service was great.

But here is your issue:

1) You are using a 50 dollar phone (or less). This phone isn't like an LG CU500 for 50 bucks on a two year contract, because the CU500 is actually more like 250 bucks, you get the discount with a 2 year contract, which you do not do.

2) You have GoPhone. GoPhone service is barely a fraction of what you get with a contract plan. Here's how it works:

With a contract plan, you pay enough money so that you can get no roaming no long distance in the US, PR and US VI. With this, Cingular has roaming agreements with other companies that allow you to hit off their towers when ...

Perfectly stated, and as a postpaid customer you will get higher priority when towers are overloaded.
