Nothing on the horizon. Unfortunately Nextel is the only carrier I am aware of offering that type of device.

Now, you can purchase GSM handsets that are of that quality but they are not sold by Cingular. We have several companies that use them here in the West Texas Oil and Gas Industry. Along with higher quality specs for endurance they are safe for gaseous enviroments.

We had our local motorola rep at one of our meeting about 4 weeks ago and she said they are planning on releasing a "ruggedized" (i hate that word) phone for Cingular this year. No model number, no release date, just that it's coming.

They tried that once and IMO it sucked. We bought one for demo and the demo didn't go too well. Tossing it around the store led to, well, it not being rugged enough. My moto v276 took more abuse than the v365 did.

Which model was that?

I have never seen MOTO make a hardened or ruggedized handset for GSM.

Moto V365. Was supposed to be a big release a few months back but they scrapped it and offered what stock they had.

We can still offer the v365 here in North Texas, special order only.

Curious, no one here (from Motorola or otherwise) marketed it as a rugged or extra durable phone. Was just their first PTT offering.

Our local warehouse is out of them, so no more for us. It was made to be rugged but when we got the finished result it wasn't marketed like that. The website lists it as "compact and sturdy".
