Voice quality problems between Cingular and Verizon?

I just jumped from VZ to Cingy (Treo 650 to Balcjack).

In general I'm happy so far but I noticed that many of my friends and family who are still on VZ complain when talking to me about voice quality on their side. I can hear them exceptionally well (clear, strong), much better than when I had VZ phones. But they complain that my voice breaks especially when I speak fast.

That happens only with VZ. When I talk to somebody on Cingular or T-Mobile (don't have anybody on Sprint) they have no problems.

So is it a known problem between Cingy and VZ (at least in NYC) or is it Blackjack to be blamed?

You should tell your family to transfer to cingular. Verizon is obviously the problem.

I wonder if the technologies are somewhat incompatible... I hate talking to my friend on Vz cuz I CAN'T understand him. He always sounds like he is mumbling and I have to keep asking him to repeat himself. My dad on Vz sounds a bit better, but still I can't sometimes I can't tell "S's" from "F's"

I'd be like: You six the car??? HUH? 😲

i have this issue with VZW customers too. for years since i switched in 2004. And whenever they have those 'it's the network' commercials I laugh my ass off to myself thinking "if america only knew what I did: those VZW people sound like they're taking through a paper cup!" 😉
