Cingular Disappointed with CPUC Vote, Plans to Appeal

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) yesterday upheld a judge's ruling that fined Cingular $12.14 million and ordered it to pay restitution to certain customers who paid early termination fees.

Cingular is disappointed by the Commission's vote and plans to appeal.

"For the Commissioners to ignore the facts in this two-year case and issue the same result is hard to comprehend," said Mike Bennett, Executive Director - External Affairs. "The decision is flawed; the claims about our business practices, network and customer service quality are completely unfounded."

Um, you need to re-read that. Cingular is not being fined by the FCC. They are being fined by the state of California. Cingular's lawyers make more money than the 700 club, so don't expect that to stick.
