I'll bring up my friend again, who recently switched from Cingular TDMA to Cingular GSM (everybody relax...this is an isolated incident...Broward County, Hollywood area). He also switched handsets...from a Nokia 8265 to an LG 1200. Anyway, he's experiencing quite a few dropped calls and straight to voicemails. Check with your friends and family in your area to determine which carrier is best for you.

I've never messed much with 1900mHz GSM, but if the frequency's anything like 1900 CDMA it'll drop if someone walks by at the wrong angle. One of the main reasons I'm glad I'm starting work with Cingular soon, so I can get my hands on a phone that WORKS, I just spent 15 min. trying to recieve 1 call from my gf who's out of town for the weekend cause I was in the wrong room of my house, finally had to go sit outside to get a signal. I love my tin roof and plaster walls, but DAMN do they block a cell signal like no one's business....at least a 1900 CDMA signal that is.

Hollywood? Isn't that out where the 850mHz coverage is kinda slim anyway? Don't we rely a lot on 1900 coverage AND roaming agreements with ATT and T-Mo?

House was built in like the 50's. My roof's made of rolled tin sections. It's nice when it rains cause ya get this wonderful white noise that puts ya right to sleep. Never leaks, doesn't ever need reshingling, and as long as there's some insulation under it it never gets above 80 inside in the summer.
gotta love the B-52's 🤣

"YOUR WHAT?!?!?.......TIIIIIINNN ROOF! rusted!"

The L1200 is crap and has been discontinued. If he is still having probs, he should do a warranty exchange. I think he'll get a L1400.
