Text Blocking

Copper Emeritus

Tried Cingular's website, but I could not find an answer to this question.

I have three phones on a Family Plan. Is it possible to block Text Messaging on just one line without affecting the other phones ability to receive text messages? Thanks.

Yep. You have to call Customer Service though from your handset or have a store rep call for you. I've done it for many customers when activating lines. You'll have to verify your customer information and I suggest putting a password on your account in case anyone tries to change your preferences.

But yes, it can be done, and rather easily. Just ask for all texts to be blocked to line xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Here's the deal, you can go into a store(if the tell you no, go into another store) and ask to have the Text pay-per-use feature removed from the line(it will only affect this phone), and they will no longer recieve texts, nor be able to send.......but Cingular does run a sweep via computer about every 1-3 months to make sure everyone has the appropriate features for there plan(all plans come standard with the pay per use feature) and therefore can add it back, but the wont reciveve the messages for a month or more to begin with and from there it might end all the texts and you wont have to worry about it anymore.......hope that helps

You can also ask them to put the "administrative text only" feature on your account and then you dont have to check up on the account every couple of months to make sure they still cant send text messages.
